In any event, listing wouldn't prevent an Muslim group using a former church for worship, it just makes alterations more complicated. If they really wanted to stop conversions, they would need to sub-divide the religious buildings use class into Christian and non-Christian.
The current argument of the British right is that Muslims turned out in "blocs" with "family voting" to cast their ballots for a party led by a gay Jewish man, and this shows that multiculturalism has failed, voting is "sectarian" and we are in a crisis.

Also, for all that the Green policy offer is flakey in places, and absolutely deserves scrutiny and challenge, there is a massive qualitative difference: Greens support traditional liberal democratic fundamentals, Reform (not least threatening UK-ICE) do not.

Excellent point! Of course family members of all cultural backgrounds are pretty likely to go to vote together, @rcwheat.bsky.social and I normally do. That isn't "family voting", we identify ourselves and vote separately once we arrive.
On one occasion I encountered a party volunteer outside polling station falsely claiming voters had to give him their number. I mentioned it to the presiding officer who went and spoke to him immediately. I also phoned the election office who said they would immediately speak to the party agent.
So now we have BBC running a whole report amplifying uncorroborated "family voting" claims which have been decisively rebutted by the Returning Officer. Why did these observers not call the election office immediately if they were so concerned? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
