Yeah, I’ve seen that. The early colonial Virginia records here for the family spelled it Nichol in land records for about 50 years and then it was consistently your spelling for 200 years. Have you tested your DNA?

Not necessarily. We were able to extra DNA from a young man's body hidden in a watery marsh for 100 years, found 2017. In decades past, whatever they did to wet remains destroyed the DNA. In 2009 they would have known better, so likely they'll be able to get DNA if they choose to use F/IGG.
So sad. We’ve had several bodies found in the water that have failed DNA extraction. I hope they’re able to get DNA from her.
