We’re excitedly closing in announcing our 12th former Principal as an Expert Facilitator at Real Schools. What’s exciting me most is that, as a Special Ed teacher from way back, we’re adding somebody with direct, recent & successful experience in this critical sector. Stay tuned!
Really enjoyed being a guest of the Victorian Principal’s Association board gathering today. These passionate government school leaders are underrated and our conversation about the most important part of their role was important.
A rewarding arvo with the crew at Frankston PS. They’ve become a very special school, dear to my educator heart. They’re also expertly led by Renee Kennedy.
I’m running a webinar tomorrow (Tues) arvo at 4pm AEDT about the four new exciting tiers of partnership available to every Australian school. If you’re a school leader wanting to put culture and practice first, please join me. Info and rego deets: realschools.com.au/events/an-ea...
My opinion piece published in The Age this week.

My 2nd Ed of ‘Restoring Teaching’ just landed with a thud on the desk. My sincere thanks to John Hattie for the kind words on the cover. Available now in print and audio book at realschools.com.au/books/restor...
Now in WA kicking off our partnership with North Albany Senior High School. Enjoyed their high level of questioning and thirst for implementation. They’ll do some impressive things in the next 3 x years.
The more socially isolated, lonely and screen-chained our kids are, the lower their wellbeing - which translates directly to their academic performance. This is a pivotal population-based study.

Gorgeous, balmy morning walk in Canberra ahead of a day of school culture leadership training with Amaroo School.
When teachers say things like this after a PL day, you know you’re in the right place. Love my job.
I was on The Today Show this morning if you’d like to take a look. The topic was the deepfake pornographic images created by a male Yr12 student in NSW. I know the school will be working hard to do the right thing and hope they’re given that chance. www.facebook.com/share/v/19vU...
I’ll be on 3AW around 9.10am this morning discussing school fees, voluntary contributions and the implications of them in a cost-of-living crisis. 📻
Sincere congrats to Greg Terrell & team at Bonython PS on building such compassionate kids. This is why schools are such critical underpinnings of social order and identity. My mob are champing at the bit to partner with this conscientious school in 2025 and beyond.

Saddened to read of #JohnMarsden’s passing. I read ‘Tomorrow, When The War Began’ with my book obsessed daughter and I admired his work in education. The school system needs more pioneers.
Not remarkable or unique, but this from Morisset HS is definitely impressive.
It’s a simple matter of a wisely chosen cultural direction, combined with fully supported implementation.
Rapt for Principal Darren Brailey, EF Kirsty Lush and all involved.
The Killers rock 🎸
Werrington County Public School are brave and honest enough to reflect authentically on how their practice defaults change in Term 4. They’re also responsible enough to help each other course correct. This is a great school.
Leinster Community School (rural WA) is doing outstanding work in developing a restorative school culture. Their Real Schools EF Candice Brown recently ran a staff circle to synthesise their observations of the changes they’ve seen. Wishing this for every Australian school!
Maitland Grossman HS in NSW are now 12-months on the RP2.0 path and their gains are quite remarkable. Huge congrats to Keli and the team. They’re providing a safe, responsible and highly performing educative experience where it’s most needed.
Sometimes it’s less the data than what real teachers doing the work at the coalface say about their lived experience. Ss Michael & John’s School in Horsham has scored some serious 2024 wins and we’re really proud to be a part of their improvement journey.
My edu-peeps! 🥰
I’ll be on The Today Show at 7.40am on Monday morning discussing rising rates of violence and aggression against teachers.
Really cool and much needed night of fun with Anthea at Rockwiz. Highly recommend.
Rapt to be working with Kirsty Lush to bring this important support to Australian teachers in 2025.
We’re stepping into helping teachers with the aspect that’s most driving them crazy … and out of the gig. Every teacher deserves this help.

Watching Angus Taylor speak unchallenged utter jibberish that doesn’t even approach answering the questions asked of him on ABC this morning made me disappointed and frustrated with them both. #auspol
I’d so appreciate your thoughts on student behaviour ahead of my summer writing project. Hit me with the challenges you’d like help with. I’m up for it. #edchat #studentbehaviour #schoolfights #schoolculture #restorativepractices #bullying
Just an idea … quote some principals of schools where their students’ wealth won’t completely shield them from life’s curveballs, including some botched exams, and have far less to be stressed about that almost every other student in the entire state.

Absolutely pumped that our 2025 Student Behaviour PhD (settle down, you’re getting simple, proven, practical advice - not an actual doctorate) is now available for enrolment. It’s about time teachers got help with the realities of contemporary teaching.
