Thanks for info. I'm looking forward to some ideas about how infrastructure can manage these unusual storm situations, regionally (because evidently mid-Atlantic typically just waits for warm temps? That's an unworkable strategy w/climate volatility increasing.)
*old. All old opera plot summaries.
Composers do write operas, you know. Here's one I'd love to see. davidbruce.com/works/nothin...
As much as I love the choral part of the end of Mahler's 2nd, overall his music strikes me as "if you emphasize everything, you emphasize nothing." Try Copland and Stravinsky, and in general I'd suggest starting with the LAST symphony a composer wrote.

(OT!) Hey, @gtconway.bsky.social - watching you suck on a lozenge (I think?) on GC-SL and thought I should mention that painkillers work on sore throats. Hope (if applicable) you feel better soon.

#classicalmusic #composers #vocalists #choristers #instrumentalists I'm in the DC metro area, looking for choruses to audition for (as a composer-who-sings rather than a professional vocalist) and ensembles to watch -- and ushering volunteer opportunities. Got anything?
wow.
Glad someone is chasing these down. www.facebook.com/reel/9432864...

Both "avoid formal chemical language" and simply just steering clear of industrially manufactured foods when possible make it easier for those who don't have a scientific background to act on a heuristic.
Aside from that, people get allergies to chemicals (whether unprocessed or manufactured) and it's very difficult to isolate. For example, I'm allergic to peppers, so if something says "all natural spices" I don't even try it.
First great effort! Also, quick push-back: The "can't pronounce ingredients" and "don't eat processed foods" are both oversimplifications for the FDA testing mostly for toxicity/carcinogenicity, but not for longterm accumulated exposure, etc.

I guess it depends on why you're referring to yourself in a professional context. If you were at a conference of journalists "music writer" seems clear. If at a conference of music directors, musicians, and composers, you probably could just use "journalist."
I don't have a proposed solution for this. I'm just saying I can see why people are confused, and would have the same confusion initially. For example, if you said you were an ethnomusicologist or a music historian, etc. I'd have a much clearer idea that you write words, but many others might not.
Well no, but I actually write music, where as people don't write food; they cook it. And, a researcher would write in lab notebooks and submit papers, scientists experiment. That's what makes them scientific.
The problem is that "write" is insufficiently precise. "Compose" is a subset of "write."
