Are there other models we should be exploring that are more agile? Smaller scale but easier to build and get up and running? Where does something like Isambard-AI feature?

You won't be surprised to hear that I think we in the UK need more #compute capacity (and thanks to colleagues in DSIT we are well on the way to delivering on that need). What I'm still trying to figure out is whether bigger is always better?

UKRI budget allocations confirmed for 2025 to 2026 Today, the Science and Technology Secretary, Peter Kyle, confirmed how UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) budget will be allocated to all UKRI’s councils and key programmes.

- also really interested in new models for datacentres
- anything and all related to adoption of tech in the wider economy
- science and engineering skills in the CS

Overall goal is how do we make sure science, tech, R&D and innovation are supporting economic growth - both directly (as drivers of growth themselves) but also how they support the rest of the economy.
