Also, my mom and all of her officer’s wives friends would’ve made a huge deal about censoring the books in our classrooms.

It wasn’t accepted in his workplace or at home. As a commander of an F-16 airbase, he knew that there were plenty of LGBTQ people working for him, and he did not care as long as these people were competent in their job skills.

My dad was a navigator, base commander twice, and served 26 years in the military. My dad knew that being in the military came with a strong sense of ethics and respect for all people. We were taught that there was no discrimination in the military based on race or gender.

Speaking as the daughter of an Air Force Colonel, who grew up living on a few military bases, and going to a couple base schools, I know if my dad were alive he would completely disagree with this, even though he voted for Trump in 2016.
