I think the independent and family owned tiles used to have a strong pride in place. But the advent of Newsquest and Johnston Press meant much of that was quickly lost.
There wasn’t much to save when the office was shut in 2003, although the photographers may have pinched the Miss Shoreham files from the 1979s…
The Shoreham Herald, where I started, had its own offices and only did 4k copies a week. It has no heating or internet access and you could only access the kitchen by going into the back courtyard.
It was all printed in Portsmouth in my day. Plus at least six regional offices in Sussex, possibly more.
I think the Sussex papers are all printed up in Yorkshire
Will it be printed locally too? I doubt it…
