This brings up a great point! igivearod isn't limited to financial donations. It's about community and finding some joy, while hopefully learning a little about some overlooked topics and people along the way.

There are many ways to contribute to #igivearod, and being a happy voice always counts

After officials pulled him from the Iditarod, this Wisconsin musher finished anyway Because he lagged far behind race leaders, officials pulled Quince Mountain from the Iditarod. He finished, unsupported and unofficially, on his own.

I love this story by Keith Uhlig, and particularly the ending:

"I think for a lot of us LGBT people, the message resonates," Mountain said. "Maybe people tell you you can't do something, but you can go ahead and do it anyway.""

Thank you for all the support as together we achieved a new record total of funds to support these schools and organizations! We thank everyone that contributed to & shared this amazing community initiative in such a challenging year. #igivearod #MusherSky

In the 2025 #igivearod, $12,777 was donated to support housing & essential medical care for LGBTQ+ people in Alaska.

$11,619 went to organizations providing domestic violence shelters & prevention services.

Over $15k supported other selected causes including ReRun Kennel and their rescue dog team.

For the 2025 #igivearod drive, over $15,000 supported animal-related charities including ARVO, to fund vaccines, spay/neuter, and medical care for pets, retired sled dogs, and strays.

Nearly $2,000 went to support arts charities, to support students learning story telling and writing.

For the 2025 #igivearod, $74,219 went to DonorsChoose to support 137 projects in 61 schools serving rural and low income areas, funding chairs, rugs, snacks, robots, sensory items, cameras, health supplies, pens, books, and far more. (we saw you sneak one more over the line to finish the list 😉)

The #igivearod2025 totals are in! This drive in honor of Quince Mountain's #Iditarod run brought in a record $138,646, breaking the previous 2019 record of $127,500. This brings the sum total of all #igivearod drives to an amazing $525,720 to support Alaska school projects and organizations.
