FIFA launches fervent defense of Saudi Arabia World Cup in letter to EU lawmakers MEPs had criticized the world football governing body for awarding the 2034 tournament to the Gulf petromonarchy.

Last month, European Parliament said that Saudi Arabia hosting the 2034 World Cup “undermines the principles upon which FIFA was founded” - gender equality, human rights and environmental concerns.
