I had a small speaking part at @cityofyorkcouncil.bsky.social Citizenship Ceremony today. Truly an honour to welcome new citizens and be part of their special day.

#YorkProms. Spectacular! π¬π§π¬π§π¬π§
Forget your royalty and mediocre celebs. Today I got to chat again with Yorks D-Day veteran Ken Cooke. This guy is an absolute legend who is so humble and funny. #Respect
The Sheriff of York was established by Royal Charter in 1396. We are the first same sex couple in a civil partnership to hold the offices of York Sheriff and Sheriffβs Consort. So proud of Paul and what great timing for #PrideMonth!
Big thank you (I assume!) to @yorkswildlife.bsky.social for the new decking on Strensall Common. Very tidy and keeps the paths open despite the mud!
Big thank you @acevo.bsky.social board & team. My goodbye gift from the board was a theatre voucher to say thank you. I finally got to use it at the weekend and loved every minute.
Now The Musical. Hits the right notes, full of energy, kept me engaged, made me feel safe. Just like them!
Today I talked strategy, governance, mental health and hospice care. More importantly though I discovered a palm tree in the middle of Leeds on a summer like spring day! βοΈ
Whatβs that I see? Spring finally on its way! πππ
@breidobrien.bsky.social great presentation Breid. Thank you. Iβm going to pinch your summary slides as my work plan for the year!
Itβs 11am and my head is buzzing at @hospiceuk.bsky.social #HospiceTechLeaders. From cyber security to digital transformation to data and analytics. As an individual hospice, regional group & national sector this sits alongside financial sustainability as one of the big issues to focus on this year
I couldnβt get the lighting right but the Grand Central Trains #York #IceSculpture was very impressive!
Despite those issues, there are incredible opportunities for us to improve through collaboration, use digital to increase impact, strengthen bonds with our communities and make holistic hospice care available for all. 2/2
Heading into three days of strategy and planning with @hospiceuk.bsky.social trustees and senior team. With expertise from across the country we've chunky issues to talk through. Many member hospice under huge pressure. Many people unable to access PEOLC. Big increase in need expected. 1/2

Hubby and I were both 54 at the end of last year. To celebrate our birthdays @england.nhs.uk has sent us little pots to poo in to test for bowel cancer. They arrived together in the post today. We can have a lovely romantic weekend now π. (Seriously though. Thank you. π)
Loved spotting a bit of charity shop archeology in York today. That branding must be twenty years old at least! @drsarahhughesceo.bsky.social @mindcharity.bsky.social
Thanks Sara. Good to read that! Much of the paper way beyond my expertise but a ms general rule, integrating new tech like this into how all of us work has to be the only way forward.

Interesting read on how AI like ChatGPT can help therapists in their work.

Incredibly proud to share Iβve appointed as the new Chair of St Leonards Hospice in York. Very much looking forward to working with the team and trustees on making sure everybody across York and North Yorkshire gets the hospice care they need.
After spending 15 hours on multiple delayed and crammed trains this week, today I went to the national railway museum and sat in a Japanese bullet train from 1976. The past never looked so good! (I also need to find new hobbies!)
Itβs been an honour to make this programme.
Thanks for everyone who spoke to us.
At #HospiceUKConf this morning @tobyhporter.bsky.social absolutely nailed the opening speech. Talking about Assisted Dying, hospice sustainability and the vital role hospices play in the wider system. The opportunities, complexities and challenges. A superb start to our national conference!
#Glasgow looking mighty fine tonight!
Thank you. A bit delayed but here safe π
Charged up with caffeine and now en route to Glasgow for @hospiceuk.bsky.social national conference. Always one of my favourites. Looking forward to lots of chat, learning and conference swag!
Thank Kate. And thank for for correcting my tagging fail Kate!
An incredible story on many levels. The truly holistic nature of hospice care, the support we have from our communities, the need to care for whole families, the importance of cuddles we take for granted. β¦

The financial crisis many hospices are facing is very real. All the more frustrating given the clear direction in the Health & Care Act and stat guidance requiring full NHS funding for specialist services. Commissioners have been allowed to avoid responsibilities for too long. This must change. Now.
Hello Bluesky! First post here from a chilly UK. Excited to see how this place develops.
