Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub has been honoured with our first Lifetime Achievement Award.
Over seven decades he has performed thousands of life‑saving operations, pioneered heart and lung transplantation in the UK, and reshaped cardiac care.
His legacy lives on in every life saved.
We’re running an important survey to understand people’s views on defibrillators.
It takes just 10 minutes, and your feedback will help us make these lifesaving devices more widely available across the UK.

The Community Defibrillator Funding programme is open to non-profits, local groups, places of worship, councils, and more across the UK. Find out if you meet the criteria for a free defib: bit.ly/4lK5P2j

We've found 10 communities that urgently need defibrillators – can you help us get a defib into these areas?

In some areas of the UK, the nearest 24/7 accessible defibrillator is over 10 minutes away. Each minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by up to 10%.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Fauja's loved ones and all who were moved and inspired by his remarkable life. ❤️
Fauja was a proud member of East London’s Sikhs In The City running club, and raised thousands of pounds for Bliss, a charity that supports babies born prematurely.
In 2004 Fauja ran the London Marathon at the age of 93. Sporting a red British Heart Foundation top, Fauja chose to run the marathon representing BHF in honour of his friends who had taken up running after having heart attacks.
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Fauja Singh, an incredibly inspiring man who was regarded to be the world's oldest marathon runner.

It's great to see the Government recommit to reducing early deaths from CVD by 25% over the next decade. This ambitious goal is possible. We're excited to work with the Government to make it happen.
You can't upgrade the nation's health without tackling cardiovascular disease (CVD), one of the UK's biggest killers.
Today, the Government announced a 10 Year Health Plan in England which sets the direction for the NHS for the next decade.
We’re keen to speak to hear from people whose lives have been touched by vascular dementia, be they a patient, loved one or carer. Please contact the BHF Stories Team on heartstories@bhf.org.uk
In partnership with the UK Dementia Research Institute (@ukdri.ac.uk) we've established the UK’s first research centre dedicated to finding new treatments to prevent, halt and cure this cruel condition.
Did you know that BHF is investing £7.5m over five years in a bid to try to stop vascular dementia in its tracks?
Clinical trials are crucial to finding new diagnostic tools and treatments for CVD 🧪
We are pleased to see @DHSCgovuk commit to prioritising clinical trials participation and reporting in the Ten Year Health Plan 🚀
