1st and MY Favorite: Scream 2
Even that horrible death scene opening of Jada can’t make me hate this movie. BEST reveal of a Ghostface in the franchise history to me; Sidney NEVER saw Mrs. Loomis the whole film to even suspect it was her. Randy’s death was heartbreaking, but still… CINEMA!
2nd: Scream
The first one is CLASSIC! Definitely the twist that we never saw coming making fun of what we knew of the horror genre, but making their own horror movie at the same time.
4th & Tied: Scream 7
No Spoilers, but I loved that it didn’t rely on the Stab films for a plot. I also loved that Kevin Williamson, the original writer, came back and not only wrote but directed it. Sidney is truly the best part of this franchise & a true badass
4th and also a tie: Scream 4
Having Kevin back, I knew they would take a stab (pun intended) at the state of the world at that time. And Jill was right; sick is the new sane. How do you think anyone got famous anymore? It was definitely more meta and smarter than it’s predecessor Scream 3
Close tie for 6th: Scream 3
While I love Wes Craven with all my black heart, this wasn’t it. This new writer definitely tried to make it more camp than meta-horror. And it could have been because so many leaks of the script causing things to change, but it just failed to be its best
6th & Next: Scream 5
Other than killing Dewey, and Deputy Judy in broad daylight, the motive for these Ghostface was STUPID! That honestly ruined the whole movie for me. Super fans decided to start killing so Hollywood would have better content to make better Stab films?! GTFOH!
7th & WORST Scream: Scream 6.
That bodega and shotgun scene. Three Ghostface and NONE of them were successful. NO DEWEY OR SIDNEY! This movie felt like it was done solely as a money grab because they knew fans would come see it, regardless of content. Cause the content wasn’t it…
