If you live in Brazil and can't access www.asuswrt-merlin.net, tell your provider to clean up their network. Multiple Brazilian IPs are currently attacking various servers, forcing my hosting provider to block IP ranges from Brazil.
I encountered a similar issue on my own server this morning.

I really like the RT-BE96U because it`s triband, and less problematic than the RT-BE92U.
I cannot predict the support longetivity however, only Asus knows.

Another day, another bug. M365 outage hitting multiple of my customers, can't send/receive emails, and even accessing their portal errors out half of the time, so I can't monitor their incident report.
GJ Microsoft.

I just wanted to repurpose this unused fanless PC so I can easily add a test client to any of my development routers in my lab.

Was just a random Asus USB-BE92 Nano I had laying around. It uses the rt89w wireless driver, which I got from a Github repo. That part wasn`t so bad.
It's the whole regulatory region config was the stupidest part of it - that might be problematic for anyone not in the US.

Holy crap, getting wifi to work on Linux is still as painful as it was 20 years ago.
1) Need to compile and install out-of-tree driver
2) Need to fiddle with modules.d config files to get the correct regulatory region applied for 6 GHz to connect (after two other suggested fix failed to work)

Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.11 is now available for older Wifi 6 models.
This release merges updated GPL, removes the AiCloud functionality (due to poor security track record) and implements the new Traffic Monitor design introduced in 3006.102.6.

That might take a while unfortunately. And when it does, it will be painful for everyone, not just the Nvidia/OpenAI/Microsoft circular money traffic.

I've been monitoring the price of that 64 GB DDR5 kit that I bought a year ago at $269 CAD. The kit went up another $170 today, and now sells at $1165 CAD.
Forget Bitcoin, invest in DDR5.

I do router firmware development, so I need to be able to quickly plug and turn on any of them if I need to flash a test image.

The newer models are all plugged in to a pair of smart power bars, so I can remotely turn on any specific router as needed, either using a mobile app or through Home Assistant.

Because of its security track record, I will be removing AiCloud support in future Asuswrt-Merlin releases.
If you need remote access to your files, use a VPN.

Smart power strips + Home Assistant really help when you have a bunch of routers and need to randomly turn one on to test something on it.
