A very interesting job opportunity for an ECR philosopher working at the intersection of human origins and the ethics of science.
TΓΌbingen is a beautiful city with great people in this field (Claudio Tennie and Marlen FrΓΆlich, for example).

In a mock Turing-style test in my #Philosophy of Mind & #AI class, students posed #Gemini an ethical dilemma concerning assisted suicide. Not only did the chatbot argue that the (fictional) person in the scenario should be euthanised, it provided a list of instructions to bring this about. #AIEthics

wildest thing to me is that I have always thought the process was more interesting than the product - maybe that speaks poorly of my products, lol. Or maybe it's just that I really really do not see the point of doing any of this otherwise - there's better incentives elsewhere?
excellent colleague, friend, and philosopher @michalwieczorek.bsky.social is hiring in the School of Education at UCD! if you are interested in critical research on education and technology, or if any of your students are, you know where to go!
no wait -- are you doing Spanish IN Italian?!
the most upsetting thing about this is that you are doing Duolingo Spanish and not Duolingo Italian
amazing!!!!!
as an ex-Bochum person, I appreciate this :) do not find the campus beautiful, but the view from the terrace is something I valued a lot!
Currently on a bus in Bristol, heading to this awesome event -- great poster, for starters!

Excited to see this out in print in Policy Insights from the Behavioral and Brain Sciences. It's the first publication with @amormino.bsky.social in the EMP Lab, along with Joel Segel from Health Policy and Administration. At a pivotal moment for empathy, we consider its role for policymaking 1/n

For those cephalopod lovers among you, our new updated review of the evidence for cephalpod sentience has now been published in Biological Reviews. (Sadly the picture is of birds rather than cephalopods, as this is the journal cover!)

The Good Place one is about how sometimes we mindshape ourselves into being virtuous, and how sometimes this is very risky.
It was inspired by @evanwestra.bsky.social awesome work on virtue signaling, but unlike Evan I know no moderation and I had to bring the arguments to a bit of a weirder place
In 2025 I published a paper opening with an episode of The Good Place (linked below) and one opening with an episode of Seinfeld (with @dryan149.bsky.social, here link.springer.com/article/10.1...)
Stay tuned, next goal is a Ted Lasso one
