It also shouldn't go uncommenented that this is clearly part of manufacturing consent to ban the peer support of trans people as part of a strategy to eventually criminalise supporting trans people, just as how trans supportive parents are criminalised in some US states...

Feels like I'm losing my fucking mind. Though that is deliberate from the Government and Press. This headline is designed to spread fear and hate against trans people, to fuel their narrative of trans people predating on youth and that HRT is dangerous and evil. Anti-trans propaganda 101...

Trans people are at risk because the UK have banned trans youth healthcare, and adult HRT pathways are unfit for purpose. If you want to stop DIY HRT or 'black market trans hormones' then lift the fucking ban and make all types of HRT free and accessible through NHS GPs. It's not rocket science.

In 2013/2014 the UK was Europe's trend setter in Transgender Equality. In 2025, after years of decline, it ranked 22nd with a score of only 45.65% on ILGA Europe's metrics. We cannot accept this continued decline, we must fight it in every way we can - from the ballot box and beyond.

... and now I'm secretly hoping the next time I excavate a contemporary archaeology site I find the remnants of a PokΓ©mon booster pack wrapper and can enjoy writing up that typology πŸ˜…

I never collected/played PokΓ©mon growing up, however my partner's kid is very much into collecting them, and so I'm trying to learn more about them.

Little did I know all my years of archaeological training would pay off in this way; PokΓ©mon card identification is just a study in typology...

It is hilariously that one of the biggest factors for Reform's vote share at next General Election is how many of their supporters live long enough to cast a ballot in 2029...

Meanwhile, the overtly progressive Green Party showing it, and it's compassionate politics, are the future πŸ’š

I don't think Labour are going to be serious vote splitters in many places. The left wing vote is almost wholly abandoned them and with each Plaid/Green/Lefty Independent victory that happens, Labour will lose even more votes as the true left show it's electability

Calling it now, at least one Labour and/or Conservative candidate will finish below a Monster Raving Loony Party candidate at the next UK General Election.

Extreme Long shot but, if anyone visited the Permanent Exhibition at the National Museum of Finland between 1995-2016 and has any pictures of the interpretation panels/display/presentation of the Suontaka sword then I'd be extremely grateful for copies!

Many thanks!

For a by-election 48% is pretty substantial

For a long time I've been deeply depressed by UK electoral politics. What @greenparty.org.uk, @zackpolanski.bsky.social, Hannah Spencer, and Lindsay Whittle have done in their two by-election results of late is give me hope. It's been a long tike since I've had any genuine hope. I'm so grateful πŸ’š

They have to finish soul searching after Caerphilly first...

The only way Labour know how to change is to lurch further to the right. Expect even more Reformesque talking points from Labour

It's almost as if there has always been a strong progressive left wing vote but Labour have abandoned it to move ever further hard right!

This election, and the Caerphilly by-election, prove that the compassionate left wing politics is the clear way forward. Each win reinforces the next. Ymlaen ✊️

This seat is 117th on the Greens' list of targetsβ€”and they secured a stonking 41% of the vote.

The Greens' threat to Labour from its left is very real but continues to be underplayed by the media and Labour itself. If they have any sense, that changes from todayβ€”with some concrete shifts in policy.

5260.01 Management of Inmates with Gender Dysphoria This policy, signed by Bureau of Prisons Director Billy Marshall, outlines how federal prisons will treat gender dysphoria from now on. It upends nine years of policies which supported gender-affirmin...

So the US is rapidly moving towards medical experiments on incarcerated transgender people in federal prisons by forcing detransition. Many states already have similar policies. This is literal Nazism.

The Interplay of Evidential Constraints and Political Interests: Recent Archaeological Research on Gender on JSTOR Alison Wylie, The Interplay of Evidential Constraints and Political Interests: Recent Archaeological Research on Gender, American Antiquity, Vol. 57, No. 1 (Jan., 1992), pp. 15-35

I'm prepping for a UG lecture I will be delivering which has given me the chance to re-read some foundational Feminist Archaeology literature from the 90s for the first time in a while. Wylie's critique here is (sadly) still as relevant as ever, and well worth a read.

Zack Polanski on how Keir Starmer could have changed the April 2025 UK Supreme Court ruling to protect trans rights (EXCLUSIVE) Zack Polanski revealed how Keir Starmer could have acted to protect trans rights after April 2025 UK Supreme Court ruling.

It’s the Government’s duty to protect all communities - including trans people.

They’re failing to do that.

Trans people deserve safety and dignity.

If you only have pictures, and no longer the item, then that's fine too! I just think a corpus of Cass protest specific items lends itself to a material culture analysis...

If anybody has any material culture related to protesting the Cass Review specifically, and would like to share pictures of them with me, then please send me images here or via owen.hurcum@york.ac.uk. I have an idea to do a little write-up about them from the pov of an archaeologist

17.02.2026 10:50 πŸ‘ 23 πŸ” 18 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

This single statement more clearly demonstrates how Cass, a doctor with no history or background in trans care, based her entire review into the field on her hazy memories/lazy revisionism of the 1970s rather than any literature or clinical understanding. She is the charlatan - not those she decries

17.02.2026 10:21 πŸ‘ 31 πŸ” 5 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Hillary Cass claimed (15/02/26) on national TV that back in the 1970s trans people didn't exist, it was just young boys who later grew up to be gay. Aside from the fact this is categorically wrong and an act of historic revisionism, it also demonstrates her complete lack of knowledge in the field...

17.02.2026 10:21 πŸ‘ 75 πŸ” 18 πŸ’¬ 5 πŸ“Œ 0

Not to mention the University of York studies that underpinned the Cass Review and emboldened her position have been shown to have both misrepresented the data they used and completely fabricate others!

16.02.2026 17:42 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Hillary Cass is to trans healthcare what Andrew Wakefield was to Vaccine studies. Wrong, deranged, dangerous, and her work will kill children.

She should be treated as such, not lauded or given appointments. Her career cannot end soon enough.
