The idea of comics being "valuable" has been poisonous to the industry, and especially to Marvel. They spend their days trying to sell artificially-rare variant covers to a shrinking group of collectors, and have abandoned the idea of selling kids something affordable that they'd want to read.
Your local bookshop has a ton of manga, likely some of DC's Compact Comics books, and then a hodgepodge of other graphic novels in no particular order.
Marvel as a publisher only understand comics shops. They've never figured out the bookstore market, and have loooong forgotten how to sell to kids.
