I think I misheard CBC News this morning. It sounded like the federal government is projecting a deficit of 74 kajillion dollars.

Everyone keeps saying this is the first time since 1980 that a sitting Calgary mayor has been defeated.
But in 1989, Al Duerr beat Mayor Don Hartman. οΏΌAlderman Hartman had been appointed mayor when Ralph Klein resigned, but he WAS mayor, no less so than if he had been elected to the job.
Iβm so glad I went to hear Jane Goodall at Calgaryβs Jubilee Auditorium 15 years ago, on October 24, 2010. I went because my then eight-year-old son wanted me to take him. Jonas is now a grad student and the co-author of a scholarly science paper.
Quick 30-minute visit to synagogue today, and I hit all the highlights: Torah reading, Haftorah, and shofar blasts. Time well spent! #ShanahTovah to all who observe the holiday.
Acclaimed British comedienne and singer Gracie Fields (1898β1979) performed in Calgary 85 years ago today. She sang for 2,000 soldiers at Currie Barracks and for an audience of 10K at the Stampede Grandstand (pictured here in 1922) in aid of the Navy League of Canada. π·: @UCalgaryLibrary

Some gentleman just stole my scooter. Thanks, a__hole.
Iβm tired of the worldwide craze for recently changing your menu options so everyone has to listen carefully.
Hey, Paul!
The genie returns with tomorrowβs headline: Bank thief escapes with cash. The thief carries out the heist. But he is caught the next afternoon. He asks the genie why the headline was wrong. The lazy genie explains that he went only as far as the next morning and came back with the morning edition.
There was an old Shazam comic where a thief frees a genie from a bottle. He commands the genie to bring him tomorrowβs newspaper so he can find out if the bank robbery he is planning will be successful. The genie is lazy and protests; time travel is hard work and tiring. But the thief insists.
Seems to me they were also in Marda Loop where I live. I had one doughnut and got a sugar headache. Much too sweet.
I saw it in Seattle!

The original Blue Line, a streetcar line commonly known as the Belt Line, began service in 1909. In the late 1940s, Calgary replaced its streetcars with buses and rubber-wheeled trolley coaches. The original LRT (Route 201) started in 1981. Route 202 (later renamed the Blue Line) was added in 1985.
Calgary Transit's Blue Line, a light rail transit line, began service #40YearsAgoToday (April 27, 1985) as Route 202. The Blue Line name was originally used for a streetcar route that became commonly known as the Belt Line. Today's Beltline district maintains the name. @calgarytransit.bsky.social
