Side streets are pretty much glazed over with half to one inch of ice everywhere I went. Definitely the reason for studded tires. Ride to work was oddly, fine.

Crescent Road path was pretty much cleared but the street looked like you could curl on it.

So true.

We build things that would require special training and procedures to navigate in a workplace and then let *basically anybody* drive an 8000 lb pick-up through there.

I mean, apparently they did quite well, comparatively speaking.

So warm but lots of wind like you said.

Also, a few inches of water running across pathways in the parks.

No. They stand up to time in my mind. A lot of late 90s was either too pop-centric or too pretentious.

I have this crazy theory that there might be a used bike renaissance for city dwellers kinda like retro gaming and audio technology for Gen X and Millennials.

Ok, from that angle, it looked like the truck was waiting on pedestrians even without you there.

I get really annoyed at all the bellyaching about cyclists and pedestrians breaking the law when cars are often doing the same things, just much more dangerously.

Totally agree. The "snack shack" was supposed to be movable but, the city might have waited too long to try to enforce the conditions of the lease and figured it'd be cheaper to cut their losses.

A contract that's just words on paper and no enforcement isn't a contract anymore.

Also, really nice for that truck to block the and one crosswalk and box like that.

I don't doubt that's a law. I doubt everyone follows it though.

You said, unequivocally, people won't be fired for staying home in bad weather.

I'm saying a law is cold comfort for someone who has bills to pay. And people will be fired for using their rights.

No. I'm in Alberta. Where businesses famously don't care and the government doesn't have the workers back for their rights.

Employers might not be "allowed" to tell people to drive in, but they'll do it anyways.

Sometimes I have to take the "driving lane" instead of the bike lane because I'm about to turn. Or I am reaching a destination off the "bike lane". There's only 1 bike lane for every 10 or 20 streets, so, they dont get you everywhere.

We try to give lots of room but it can be hard with cars sporadically parked on either side of the road. Also, the cars parked into the driving lane because the curb is growing from lack of ice removal.

If you dont like it, please give us 10 seconds to the next block, we might take a side street.

Yeah, 20th ave is one big bumpy scar from all the new development. Needs to be repaved later anyways.

That's a good point. I'm just saying there spin is real when a councilor says "Bike lane = $1m per block".

Seems like a lot of those upgrades were happening sooner or later with or without bike lanes, for near the same cost.

I started my commute at +6 and no gloves. Needed to fish out gloves 2/3s of the way home or I'd lose a ginger at -4.

Wind wasnt as bad for me as riding into Chinooks.

License to Kill Our ongoing investigation examines how California routinely allows dangerous drivers with horrifying histories to continue to operate on our roadways.

Agreed. I heard on BikeTalk (~10:30-23:20) states allow speed assistance interlock to be a license condition for speeding like this.

I definitely have calmatters.org/series/licen... on my to read list.

Wonder if the province can be sued for running a licensing program where repeat speeders kill.
