Note to self: When replacing the desktop's data drive (D:), be mindful of the top directories' capitalization. Windows doesn't care, but #Adobe #Lightroom can get confused.
I was about to make a snarky comment about my "non-sketchy, wholesome" friends, but I see Tony beat me to it!
Ha! I didn't say I understood it. But -- with some degree of difficulty and lots of trial-and-error (and online help) -- I finally got it working!
Windows 95 IBM Aptiva connected to a Windows 7 Sony Vaio with a 10Base2/T converter
Spent the morning setting up a local network between an old Windows 7 10Base-T/RJ45 system (right) and an even older Windows 95 10Base-2/BNC system (left) and -- lo and behold -- it works!

Speaking of Sun Ra, back in the mid-1970s I hung around (and, at times, cohosted) sessions on WXPN FM. On one such occasion, the Arkestra crammed into a small studio to perform a live, on-air concert. I was one of only three or four people live in the studio with the band. Amazing times.
Throughout his life, Sun Ra's number was listed in the Philadelphia phone book (under "Ra, Sun"). You could call him up and chat! #othernetworks

What's so amazing about Jim Henson as a puppeteer is that he could literally be explaining that Kermit is made out of felt and ping pong balls and yet Kermit still feels alive the whole time he's doing it
Also, although we don't hear any of his tracks, President Bradford is obviously a big @brucespringsteen.net fan.
#Paradise
The needle drops in Dan Fogelman's #Paradise are amazing, featuring lesser known covers of hit tunes. Just one example: an episode that included a discussion of 'Rocky III' later featured this haunting version of 'Eye of the Tiger'
I feel the same way. I, too, got the first Spider-Man book. It's beautiful to behold -- but impossibly to actually hold! It sits on a table where I flip through a few pages every now and then, but I never sit down to read a full story.
@galeannehurd.bsky.social I just noticed you were the producer on Switchback (1997). It's a strong action/thriller -- but what makes it spectacular is the location work. The film has such a beautiful and evocative sense of place.
Iβm a huge fan of Reichβs βMusic for 18 Musiciansβ. Iβd always play it on sunny weekend mornings.
His book, 'The American Cinema: Directors and Directions 1929-1968', had a big influence on me.
Wait. . . you took a course with Andrew Sarris!? That must have been something!

Review: 'Pig Wife' by Abbey Luck, a dark tale of family dysfunction and madness.

I was present for the birth of the web, the explosion of personal sites, and the blogging revolution, and you know what we never had to do? Beg people to use our shit.

Itβs an emotional page-turner with a fascinating central character. Congrats to you and Mariko on the book!
Just read: 'This Place Kills Me' by Mariko Tamaki and @nicolegoux.bsky.social, a gripping, well-crafted tale of the social torments of high school -- compounded by a tragic death that may be more than it seems.
In the real world, I believe George Raft was there that night.
I was not familiar with this book--or any of @dustinweaver.bsky.social's 'Paklis'--until I saw your post. Just read '1949'. β¬It's absolutely stunning! An amazing work. Thanks for the tip!
