Our latest preprint, led by @lizihegarty.bsky.social & aided by @erinwatson.bsky.social shows that fixation time matters when it comes to visualising #macrophages in #salivarygland & other epithelia. We find 1hr allows detection of mac subsets while preserving architecture. Rest to repair Neuronal activity exacerbates myelin damage in the acute period after injury

We saw that when myelin sheaths are damaged, they are not always necessarily lost, using live imaging to watch the process happening in real time! Also very much enjoyed reading the perspective by Kamsi Nwangwu and Michelle Monje: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Myelin sheaths in the central nervous system can withstand damage and dynamically remodel Myelin damage is a hallmark of several neurological disorders, but how it occurs remains to be fully understood. In this study, we found that early damage in zebrafish and rodent demyelination models ...

I am delighted to see this work published. A big thanks to everyone, particularly the excellent supervision of @lyons-lab.bsky.social, the work of co-first author @juliavdkorput.bsky.social and wonderful collaborators in Amsterdam and Oregon.

Great to see this out for all to see after a lot of hard work by @lizihegarty.bsky.social and @bainlab.bsky.social. Colonic #macrophages persist but are transcriptionally altered post- #inflammation in a mouse model of #colitis.

Spatiotemporal Analysis of Remyelination Reveals a Concerted Interferon-Responsive Glial State That Coordinates Immune Infiltration Remyelination, the process by which axons are re-encased in myelin after injury, is a critical step in restoring brain function, yet the dynamics from initial injury to repair remain poorly characteri...

How does the brain repair myelin after injury?

We mapped the full cellular choreography of white matter repair using snRNA-seq + Slide-seqv2, uncovering a type I interferon-driven glial program that recruits lymphocytes to promote remyelination.
