It's not just the lack of respect for creativity and the process (I've had a founder once say to a team of creatives that a degree in the arts is a waste of time lol). It's also a specific lack of respect for labor, fueled by a growth mindset that is simply unsustainable.
And recently there’s been an obvious shift to leaders wanting AI to write first drafts of scripts and copy and have someone “polish” the sludge it pumps out, which just adds up to hiring fewer people for less money.
When I started my first job writing for a tech start-up (fun weather forecasts!) a VC tried to pitch me how to make my job automated. That was in 2014.
