This is the only unambiguous date format -ISO 8601 date format. Good riddance to 06-05-2025 vs 05-06-2025.

Daring ‘James Bond’ mission to drill Antarctic ice cores could reveal future of sea level rise To understand vulnerable glaciers, climate scientists extract ice from continent’s remote and stormy coast

For Science Magazine (@science.org), I covered a wild mission to land a crack team of paleoclimate scientists by helicopter on a stormy, icy ridge near Thwaites Glacier to drill ice cores that could help us better understand the "doomsday" glacier's uncertain future. ❄️

May 2025 – join us in Ottawa for one of the many sessions at the GAC-MAC-IAH annual meeting. A joint meeting of three of Canada's main geoscience societies. Harmonized data is critical to overcoming differences that block the way to action in trans-jurisdictional regions - Looking for Perspectives!

Canada is one step closer to burying nuclear waste in northwestern Ontario | Great Lakes Now The search for a site to store toxic waste has ended just north of Lake Superior near Ignace, Ontario. With the town and local First Nation’s support, it now moves ahead to various stages of review.

In Canada similar challenges exist - "Great Lakes Now posed the question “who’s in charge..."" can the new Canada Water agency address this challenge in Canada? Time will tell - It is a tall order – Do stakeholders have unrealistic expectations – hopes.

Groundwater: Who’s in charge? | Great Lakes Now As groundwater resources are increasingly under threat in the U.S. — including the Great Lakes region — regulation, oversight and planning for the long-term are diffused and often lacking.

What overlies deeper basin pore space – groundwater–used for potable water. Coverage by "Great Lakes Now" It is easy to forget groundwater - in Michigan "44% of people secure their water from groundwater" in Ontario municipalities Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph..

CO2 sequestration - from Great Lakes Now. Perhaps lessons highlighting challenges in pumping CO2 into the ground. Conceptually great – individual settings provide challenges. As southern Ontario hopes to exploit the Cambrian, are there lessons from Illinois? www.greatlakesnow.org/2024/10/the-...

simple climate projections expect northern forests to become more productive with warming and take up more carbon, we show why this may not happen. Reminder that permafrost is the backbone of the Arctic. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
