They say projects using non-pipeline transport, such as Coryβs ships, should not be considered. "A government consultation on non-pipeline transport, running until Friday, 1 May 2026, could further frustrate Cory." 3/3 @greenwich.greenparty.org.uk @victoriarance.bsky.social @karinlt.bsky.social
Anyone who wants to take action on this dangerous technofix please note: "officials at the Competition and Markets Authority have, potentially, thrown a spanner in the works with their 2024 report on the Waste Industrial Carbon Capture scheme". 2/3 @drandrewboswell.bsky.social @hynotnw.bsky.social
Thanks to @theecologist.org for using a version of my article about the insane, damaging plan to fit carbon capture technology to waste incinerators at Belvedere. 1/3

"Cory claims it will generate electricity to power 371,000 homes, but is more likely to put less than half of that into the grid [...] incinerator expansion will encourage local authorities to send waste for burning that could be avoided or recycled". peopleandnature.wordpress.com/2026/03/02/c...
Today, fares for tube, rail and DLR journeys in London will go up by 6% (and so will journeys by River Bus and the cable car across the Thames). Putting public transport fares up in London is a political choice and itβs the wrong one.
Remind me, when you slaughter 85 young school children, are you the Good Guys?
The United States once again used negotiations as a cover for the attacks it intended to carry out regardless.
It is a declining empire determined to drag the rest of the world down with it β and Western allies are its eager lapdogs, despite all their invocations of international law.
βThis is a political choice. There is nothing inevitable about itβ, Pearl Ahrens of Fare Free London said in a press release. Read more here.

Good news from Barnsley, as under 18s are offered free bus journeys between 7am and 9pm.
The scheme has been running since August 2025 and has already reached 1 million journeys, according to the BBC report.

hello from the UK. we who supported the 1984 miners strike told the same joke, featuring Arthur Scargill, the miners' union leader.
the government's despicable, dangerous case is also a monstrous waste of public money
... however the ban stays in place, pending a possible appeal giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...
The judiciary finds its way to justice, unlike this cruel, vindictive government. UK ban on Palestine Action unlawful, high court judges rule www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
Free public transport really does strike a blow against social exclusion. it's happening in Barnsley right now
The Greater Manchester transport branch of Unison, the union which is made up of workers in bus depots and offices has passed a motion supporting the principle of free public transport. And they are setting about organising a Fare Free Greater Manchester campaign.
Good news from Transport for London. They have committed to βdevelop detailed plansβ for a publicly-owned bus company, to reverse the trend to privatisation that has made services worse and more expensive. Unite the union has welcomed this β and we do too. www.unitetheunion.or...

Thanks to all who participated in our event, Try Me For Treason, yesterday at Birkbeck. Powerful readings of courtroom speeches by anti-war protesters in Russia. Great discussion with London-based Russians, and Brits, about how to support political prisoners. www.bbk.ac.uk/events/event...
Great to see that this banner was out again in London today. From Ukraine to Palestine, occupation is a crime. @ukrainesol.bsky.social @ensu-resu.bsky.social

Let's put some vision, and optimism about the sort of places we want to live in, into political processes. This is a great way to start.
We exist in a machine that is destroying the basis of life on the one planet we have to live on. This is commonly understood. Yet very little is done about it. Why?

Alexander Nesterenko, an associate philosophy professor at the Moscow State Technical University, has been sentenced to three years in prison for Ukrainian songs saved on his social media. Here is his closing statement in court:
