New paper out 🪭🔥 We present a simple way to quantify the energy cost of manual self-fanning during heat stress by combining accelerometry (movement) + indirect calorimetry (energy). Feasible, effective, and scalable to other cooling behaviours.

First half marathon in 3 years since being diagnosed with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, and exactly 2 years to the day since I was last rushed to hospital! Been quite the journey and I’m honestly just so happy to be back running and racing😃

2024 was the warmest year on record, and probably in the whole of human history – about 1.6°C warmer than the pre-industrial period.

More than 1 billion individual thermometer measurements have been condensed into a single vital number.
