It's funny because this is in the heart of downtown SLC which has been so cracked by gerrymandering that people who live on the same block as this plane were in the same congressional district as people in counties with more cattle than people, and we are not a major livestock state.

I was going to do a whole thread about my dad and how I loved and in many ways looked up to him, but how he was also flawed. The conversations today that lead to those thoughts reminded and put in clear light that we are complex, complicated individuals. It's weird. I should talk to people about it.

Under any other administration with any other Speaker this would have had a giant unveiling ceremony and members of both houses of Congress and both sides of the aisle would have been holding hands.

But the thing I was least prepared for was when we all got back to his house, sitting around in silence, eating Taco Bell. It was just so surreal.

Driving here I called a handful of people and talked and cried and laughed. I got to the mortuary, said goodbye, and cried again.

My dad passed suddenly and unexpectedly today. It's been a whirlwind for the past six hours. I left work to get my car and they had given him CPR and gotten a pulse and loaded him into the ambulance. By the time I was on the road to go see him they had pronounced him dead.

Additionally, I find it fascinating that, even if he were saying he controls the US, that you immediately assume he wouldn't be lying about that and just take it as truth. You're allowed to engage in critical thinking, and it's sad that you refuse to.

I'm both excited and sad about this trip. I'm excited because Imma see some old friends, meet some pocket friends in person, and see a place I've wanted to see for years. On the other hand, this is my first major trip since the breakup.
