It’s wild how the most prominent pro-fossil fuel politician on the planet is busy manufacturing an unarguable reason for everybody else to wean themselves off fossil fuel dependency as quickly as humanly possible.
This is an absolutely huge jump in oil prices.
It's also why Europe needs to get off fossil fuels asap (beyond climate change impact). We can't be beholden to this.

My hunch: at some random point when Trump’s miniscule attention span has been exceeded, he’ll declare himself the winner & stop.
That’s the least worst outcome. Worse would be unanticipated consequences where the US gets itself in too deep to find a face-saving off ramp.
There are no good outcomes
One outcome is that Trump withdraws, accepting his impotence — and, goodness knows, we all know he almost certainly is and that’s what a lot of this is about — or we go for the other option and plod on politely towards Armageddon.
When even a corrupt feudal autocracy is distancing itself from the unfolding Iranian disaster, you’d hope that the noisy chorus of UK politicians & media loudmouths urging the UK govt to get thoroughly entangled in this mess would pipe down for a moment’s quiet reflection.
But they won’t.
