I'm finishing up a couple of work things at the Cal baseball game. My kid's friend just asked, "Kendra, are you really doing work?"
Kid, this report ain't going to deposit itself in the repository.

Today I learned that it's better to brute force an array of countifs than it is to spend a week asking LLMs to calculate head to head matchups in a league game schedule.
I remember when she was researching and writing the book!
It's always a treat when students who have studied table tennis and competed at a high level play ping pong in the library.
Integrating AI slop tools into library resources is a good way to really degrade trust in library resources.
But you know, it's all inevitable. π

Whatβs a good 26β wheel bike for a tween who will be bike commuting in all weather?
I would put one in my collection but donβt want to deal with paying for it.
New meta-analysis of 26 published studies concludes that AVs will lead people to use cars a lot more β which would thicken congestion and worsen pollution (even if AVs are electric).
"AV deployment is anticipated to lead to an overall increase in Vehicle Miles Traveled."

They would kill me.
And when I say they were attacking the truck, the turkeys were pecking at the tires and bumpers.
The big one turned and gave me a very menacing look, as if it was saying, "You're next."
Iβve been told developers like traffic.
I owe the @berkeleyca.gov worker who got out of their truck to try to get some wild turkeys (who were attacking the truck) to move out of the street. They distracted the turkeys enough that I was able to ride by without the turkeys turning on me.
(Theyβre fine and we laughed about it up the road.)
I am into the idea if starting fresh. I am realizing itβs not always great to hold on to the old ways.
I've been on wordpress for almost 20 years, but I also think it's kind of a mess. Is my old blog worth saving?
I won't mess with that platform.
I'm tempted to move to Ghost for a fresh start.
I don't want a following but I also want to remember that people might actually be reading it because I tend to go a little wild when I think I'm shouting into the void.
This is my last blog post - libraryattack.com/holding-the-...
WHAT A YEAR IT'S BEEN!
Should I get back into blogging or is it all newsletters now?
Iβm going to try that out for the tournament!
Who knew the thing that would finally get me to learn python would be youth baseball.
oh thanks for the tip on that!
ChatGPT has a hard time counting to 12.
Gemini doesn't seem to understand what "each team must play every other team twice" means.
Claude is inserting random games into the schedule.
My adventures in using LLMs to create a baseball schedule continue to frustrate and remind me of the limitation of these tools.
Also when people complain (WHICH THEY ARE), I blame the stochastic parrots.
The one thing GenAI should be good at - making little league schedules - is such a pain in the butt. Neither ChatGPT nor Claude actually used the parameters I fed it. Apparently "no double headers" was too tricky.
Started listening to this on my ride to work. @jjvincent.bsky.social said that humanoid robots are an avatar for capital, which put the push for them into perspective.
I immediately thought about how society treats cars (and I guess all property) as avatars of capital.
The Guardians continue to confuse me.
One of the annoying things about coaching is that I canβt do anything during the games besides make sure kids are where theyβre supposed to be.
