And what happens when the love runs out?
It really bothers me that @jeopardyofficial.bsky.social had a question in the final ToC game asking for what shouldβve been SARS-CoV-2 as the answer (ββ¦developed an mRNA vaccine for this virusβ), but accepted COVID as a response. COVID is not the name of the virus! #AnnoyedVirologist
And Greg Graffin of Bad Religion has a PhD in evolutionary biology.
Yes agree!
I am also reading this now and after book 4, Iβm ready for it to end.
My mom used to get so mad at me because Iβd open them up and take little scraping bites off the top like it was a giant popsicle.
Which means itβs extra important for those of us with knowledge in applicable fields to be out in the community having conversations and giving people the information they need to advocate for themselves and the health of their communities. βOptionalβ does not mean banned.
I like to step away from a screen and physically draw/write my proposal concepts on paper, and map out the details. This also helps with brainstorming from scratch. Sketch out your ideas, precedence, and possible experiments. Start big and whittle down.

Since they just announced their annual international scientific meeting will be held in Florida in 2026, hereβs hoping the @globalvirusnews.bsky.social incorporates some free outreach programs for the public. Hold some accessible talks at a library or school. Encourage conversations Anything! π¦ π§ͺ
Hi, I just graduated from that department at Stanford. Happy to meet virtually with your undergrad. DM me.
Funny, MDPI is also the most aggressive with reviewer requests.
The only Bromance Iβll ever need is King of the Hill.
This is absolute perfection. Thank you John Darnielle for finding the words and stringing them together so beautifully.
Damn I could have used this a few months ago! Donβt need to be added, but following for community with fellow postdocs! Good luck everyone!
Thanks for always showing up for this run! Although we missed your sequin jacket this year!
You got this!
Looks like last of us special edition cornbread

May they rest in power.
I did not know Helen, but I followed their journey on this platform and always appreciated their candidness with what they were experiencing. We are so used to people hiding away when struggling with terminal illness and facing death, but Helen went against the grain, and I appreciated that so much.
Thank you for sharing! Very similar to my own story growing up in the Bay Area. Happy Pride, Mary!
Congratulations!
Thinking about the FDA approval of Lenacapavir today, during #pride month. I wonder what pride month, & our society as a whole, would look like today if the millions that have died were still alive today?

Most importantly, going back to school later in life is FUN. Yes, challenging, but different. Itβs such a privilege. Youβll find your supporters if you pick the program thatβs right for you. I encourage you to be YOU. Itβs the only way, IMO. DM me if you want to chat about apps or interview prep!
Also, I found that many programs responded to the fact that I had thought about what I wanted out of a program. I phrased it as βIβm looking for growth/opportunity in xx area, how does this program approach xx?β It shows you have a goal and growth mindset, and are serious about it.
