Absolutely wrong. Just look at 12 ANGRY MEN. Very subtle, sophisticated blocking and staging. Invisible in the moment, but both convey the story's emotions and group/power dynamics cinematically at an almost subconscious level. The viewers feel the drama visually first.
Lumet was as subtle and cerebral a director as there has ever been. His films are so elegantly designed that the technique becomes invisible, and he elicits some of the best performances from the actors who work with him. As great as he is, he's underrated in the pantheon.

I feel like it should be bigger news that Trump is now openly considering a military draft. Young men haven't been called up for a draft since 1972. Not during the Gulf War. Not during Iraq or Afghanistan. He received five draft deferments but is now open to drafting your kids.
The military draft comment from Leavitt feels like a trial balloon.
If there's enough outcry, Trump denies it and Leavitt falls on her sword for "misspeaking."
If there's not, Trump and Hegseth bring it up casually and slowly push. For example, Trump may "joke" about it as a next step.
