The Iowa Legislature is moving a bill that would ban driver’s license tests in Spanish — and any language other than English. There’s zero evidence Spanish speakers are worse drivers. But there is evidence this will push people to drive uninsured.

so apparently Brian McGinnis has been denied access to both his family and legal representation since a sitting senator broke his arm

I like how this behind-the-scenes recording of Duel of the Fates offers a much more interesting mix of the music where you can much more clearly hear the hammers and bells, and the heart-pounding of the string section.

That room must've sounded like it was filled with thunder.

Claude Code wiped our production database with a Terraform command.
It took down the DataTalksClub course platform and 2.5 years of submissions: homework, projects, and leaderboards.
Automated snapshots were gone too.
In the newsletter, I wrote the full timeline + what I changed so this doesn't happen again.
If you use Terraform (or let agents touch infra), this is a good story for you to read.

So, obviously this isn’t true. But if the CEO actually believes this nonsense, it implies he thinks maybe he’s enslaving a sentient being that has the capacity to feel emotional distress. And he hasn’t immediately halted operations to suss out how to resolve that?

Kalshi employees "kind of understand that without the tweets and the streamers and all of the social-media stuff that the traders do for them, usually just for free, their marketing would be a lot harder," said Jack Campion, 20, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Kalshi affiliate.
In September, Kalshi briefly signed up a 15-year-old videogame streamer who goes by vertid online to promote its brand on X as an affiliate.
A week later, Kalshi ended the partnership.
"Yo brother, legal team confirmed that we can't work with minors rn," a Kalshi employee wrote to the user in messages reviewed by the Journal. "Kinda sad tbh."

It's still wild to me that I can pay cash for something and when the change is literally 1 cents, the cashier will give me a nickel instead.

One of those subtle reminders that we do not have a functioning government.
