So I’m seeing a lot of folks pointing out that trans folks are the first target but not the last, that you can’t assume you’re safe. And that’s true.

But for fuck’s sake, we need to care about the very real people being hurt right now, the trans folks, the immigrants. Center them and their lives.

It’s easy to attack a small, already vulnerable population first. It won’t stop there.

But also for the people who are at lower risk long term, we need to care about the very real people who are being harmed right now.

It’s a long road we have ahead. You’re on an educational path that will let you help people. There will be opportunities. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself.

I find myself thinking of how I can hide people on the way up to Canada, since I can code switch well enough to blend.
