The view from my house a few days ago
Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of us moving to our house in the woods.
As one might imagine, a move with a 1 year old and two people in their 70s who hadn't moved for 45 years was a whole lot. Still unpacking from those days, literally and emotionally.

Today has been a day of taking care of necessary tedium

roadhouseendgame i was talking to my mom about cardassians and said something along the lines of what must it be like to be a cardassian civilian. like abstractly knowing the rest of the galaxy thinks of your species as 'the evil ones' and kinda sorta knowing your government runs labor camps and torture prisons and is a military empire, and it's a huge deal for everyone else in the galaxy, but you just like run a restaurant so it's not a big part of your daily life, so you just like, go about your day and make soup and don't think about it' and then halfway through my sentence i actually heard myself and then had to go sit down for like ten minutes. like sat down in a chair and stared at the floor for ten minutes

Also I deeply hate paxlovid even though I know it's the only thing keeping me off a nebulizer and maybe out of the hospital. I resent that without insurance it would cost 2,000 fucking dollars and makes your mouth taste nauseating
Today I do not have a fever, finally, but I'm also not really well. It makes me cranky, but my family is being very kind and supportive of me resting even though parts of my brain are being pretty rude about me needing to rest this long.

Trogdor is back to normal, Burninator is most of the way there, my mother is mostly fine, Jim Davis continues to resist disease so readily i think he's a paladin.
And then there's me. I feel like so much ass. Like botched BBL ass. I'm on antivirals so my mouth tastes like an aspirin bottle too. :(
I tested positive and I get bad asthma when I'm sick, so I'm gonna see about getting some antivirals. Yeehaw
Covid update:
Trogdor is on the mend, Burninator is down, and my mom and I are in the process of going down
Oh and Jim has 18 hours of mandatory OT this week
I made a huge pot of soup and a huge batch of veggie heavy fried rice yesterday in anticipation of this situation. I hate being right
I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is
Most of my spring seeds arrived, and I'm going to try my hand at leeks this year.
Now I need to see if any of my neighbors are old, grumpy men whose hearts need to be warmed through the power of leeks
