Mirror knitting is an option for left-handed folks, and can be continental or english - everything goes in the opposite direction to accommodate left-handedness. I heard about it on YouTube, but it's what my friend does - it's like a mirror when sitting across from each other.
Have you looked into mirror knitting? It’s sometimes the way to go for left-handed folks. That’s how my bestie knits.
I do both, and I find that knitting has you trudging uphill for quite a bit and then it evens out. Also, twice the tools and half the movement - it can feel "wrong" when you're used to crochet. But once your hands get it, up-skilling is easy.
I guess this is my potato chips pattern... 🧶 I took my knitting out and did not have all that I needed to make my chevrons, so I made another one of these instead. I promise I'm not a one-trick pony, I just need something easy and comforting right now I guess 🥲

I use my fingers - first my forefinger + middle finger, and then switch to my thumb when a ball starts forming. And that's what I do even with my swift, because I don't really like using a ball winder all that much.
I applied for two jobs today! Two things that would not be soul-crushing to do AND pay a living wage.

Suzanne Bryan (the one who did the above) also has the cast-on, and one of my favorite instructional YouTube folks, Very Pink Knits, has a couple versions from flat to in the round. I have not tried these, but they’re other things have been very helpful. Best of luck with the new method!

I did do one fun thing... student requested a video on how to wind a center-pull ball of yarn from a hank with no equipment 🧶 I prefer throw pillows, but bedroom pillows and chair backs also work.
