My statement on the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson.

The youth are the future. It was a pleasure meeting with students from SUNY Suffolk Community last week.

The public higher education system is the backbone of our great state, ensuring that students receive the best value, quality, and resources necessary to embark on their professional journey.

We stand in solidarity with @newyorkstateag.bsky.social The weaponization of our justice system is a grave disservice to all Americans, irrespective of political affiliation. These actions pose a direct threat to the very fabric of democracy.

Yesterday was a beautiful day with Assemblymember Carrie Woerner at the Saratoga Polo School. I had the opportunity to take a polo lesson, learn about the doors Great Strides Equestrian Foundation opens for young people in equestrian sports and see some of the great student athletes play a chucker!

Today alongside Assemblymember Romero, I visited the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute, announcing a $1.25 million grant to renovate and update the facility, ensuring it continues its great work across the community. We also toured Swinburne Park, a green space and playground frequented by families.

The great work done at both Abilities First and Legal Services for the Hudson Valley helps so many from vulnerable communities here in NY.

The funds will build a new site with state-of-the-art facilities to continue serving children from low-income families in the community.

Today’s #NYSTour brought me to Long Island’s East End with Assemblyman Schiavoni. We visited Long Island Head Start’s Riverside Center to announce a $2.25 million award for its reconstruction.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Assembly Queens Delegation for their unwavering dedication in making this a reality. Additionally, I want to acknowledge the efforts of our Senate counterparts in ensuring that this project crossed the finish line.

The Queens Museum offers families an opportunity to explore and learn. Today’s announcement of $8.5 million will enable more New Yorkers of all generations to enjoy easy access and experience the museum’s remarkable facilities.

Today on my #NYStateTour we visited Port Jefferson Long Island with Assemblywoman Kassay. While there we visited the village Firehouse as well as a local animal shelter.

We’re grateful for the community heroes who work tirelessly to keep us safe and provide care for animals in need. #CommunityHeros

Today brought me to Rockland County with Assemblyman Patrick Carroll where we announced over $2.1 million in funding for projects at the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry Landing, Haverstraw Fire Department, Westhab Affordable Housing, and The Haverstraw Center in Rockland County.

Parks and green spaces like Wyandanch Park foster healthier, more vibrant, and resilient communities. Thank you Assemblyman @kwani-opharrow.bsky.social for highlighting its importance and advocating for continued investments.

The enactment of the “Big Awful Bill” will have far-reaching and enduring consequences for families throughout the United States..

Today, I visited Huntington, LI, with @stevestern.bsky.social, stopping at their local Y, the home of NYS swim Champions The Huntington Y Bluefish.

It was an honor to meet the young swim stars and invest state dollars in this facility that will nurture future generations.

Happy to be back with Assemblywoman Judy Griffin on my annual statewide tour. It’s incredible to see what Baldwin High School is doing with their health & wellness center and the Innovation Learning Collaboratory to help prepare students for a bright future.

The Plattsburgh YMCA is such a vital resource for families in the north county. I’’m happy to be back with Assemblymember Billy Jones to announce
$4.5 million that will help them complete the pool at the future site of the YMCA and continue to provide great services for kids and for families.

Great to be with Assemblymember Al Stirpe and Assemblymember Pam Hunter today to tour the clean room & heavy machinery room at OCC and see the opportunities available for students to get into the semiconductor manufacturing industry, especially as we look to Micron opening its doors in Clay.

We also stopped by Bellamy Harbor Park to look at damage from this weekend’s deadly storms and announced $216,000 to help clean up the damage and to get the fire department critical tools they need to do their jobs safely.

I kicked off my annual statewide tour today with Assemblymember Marianne Buttenschon at the Rome YMCA, and was happy to announce $3.4 million to improve their facilities and help them continue the vital work they do in the community.

I was proud to be there and march with each and every one of you. And a big thank you as always to my friends and cohosts Senator Jamaal T. Bailey and Councilman Kevin C. Riley, and to Music Over Violence and DJ Madout!

Thank you to everyone who came out for our 5th Annual Juneteenth Rally yesterday in the Bronx! It was an inspiring commemoration and celebration of Juneteenth.

It will also undermine food assistance programs that provide essential support to the most vulnerable members of our communities.

The “big beautiful” bill a federal agenda, which will disproportionately benefit the rich at the expense of the less affluent, poses a a great threat to our healthcare system, particularly Medicaid and Medicare.

The Editorial Board: A bill that takes from the poor and gives to the rich will hit New York State hard It’s estimated that around 8 million Americans will lose their health insurance. And that’s just those on Medicaid. Medicare, the program for seniors and those with disabilities, might also suffer

For those who doubt the efficacy of voting, please wake up and consider the consequences of recent elections. No matter political affiliation, we can see the profound implications for our nation and state.

Criticizing the legislature and the Governor is pointless when we all know the responsibility for any harm that may come will be directly attributable to Trump and his Republican enablers who won't fight for the people they represent.
