Why not start a piece with "The thing he was resisting was..." so you're talking about a character. When you get the answer, ask why, then when you get that answer, ask why again, and so on...
What are you resisting writing right now? The tender bit? The truthful bit? The uncomfortable bit?

Before you write, pause for 2 minutes. What can you hear? Smell? Sensory description matters. If you try to force a story, it won't work, so use your senses to make the foundations, and build from that.
