This year's Technical Stars were a bit different to my normal ones. I have been experimenting with fusing :-) Made with a clear glass, overlaid with coloured glass powder sifted over a stenciled design, stringers and reactive frit. I love the little glimpses of reduced copper in these
Last week on Wonkhe: Richard Traini rallies the sector to use REF 2029 as the opportunity to promote and reward the expertise of technical staff
This is without light behind. The red shows on the thinnest parts of the glass but only with transmitted light
I have managed to make some glass that does this - this is the only photo I have on this phone, but I have got it to work better now
Just finished this one. It's taken some time as my chosen glass was out of stock for over 2 months. Glad I stuck with the original plan and did not change my mind #stainedglass
What is the likelihood that "certain individuals" bought on the stock market when everything was low just before the tariff pause was announced - I bet it's high!
No-one knows what is going on...what a shambles
I agreed to do a talk for a Women's day event at work...they put me on first and expect me to keep to time - what could go wrong ๐ฑ
The second flock to leave this week...
The first flock have gone to their new homes ๐ข
Love your caterpillar, did you make it?
You have a yarn room....in awe! Kitty looks slightly perplexed at their new accessory ๐คฃ
16 glass birds of different colours and wings
A whole flock of birds cut and ground and ready to foil and solder...for those in my school taking voluntary severance or some of my favourite researchers coming to the end of their contracts ๐ข
And what did you end up putting with the vile balls of yuck?
Anything bar the faggots... nasty evil things ๐คฎ
Was the presence of X to try and make him seem human?
Excellent move ๐
Hmm Lycurgus glass update....I have the jade green but not the red yet. Not sure if I have to fiddle with the redox or just wait longer in the heat treatment...
Hope it all goes brilliantly
Unfortunately yes he did
Oooh look it's me again in the press - as the masked scientist ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ...only I was making glass not a ceramic
That is so cute...most of mine are birds
I was initially pleased when it looked like Lego had gone across to paper bags for the contents...to find that they have gone to paper with plastic inside bags. So not recyclable in most UK councils waste streams then...sigh!
You forgot about the furnace room.... excellent at drying all sorts of wet clothing
Oh it was a rather marvellous start to the week wasn't it
I'm in such a kerfuffle that I got that the wrong way round....anyway looks like might not be worse off waiting...not a great voluntary severance package
Is doing the maths to work out how much worse off I would be by taking voluntary redundancy compared to waiting it out and think I might be better waiting it out
Looks And sounds delicious
I have some lovely dresses from Popsy that have pockets...one is a science print
