Books covers of four Dim Shores anthologies with a large notice saying “FREE E-BOOKS”. The anthologies and their covers are:
Looming Low Volume II (cover art by Yves Tourigny) - A bright white/orange sun/eyeball rises over a dark orange and brown desolate landscape. A crumbling tower and tiny human figure are in the foreground.
Looming Low Volume I (cover art by Yves Tourigny) - A dark teal and black moon/skull rises over a mysterious, misty landscape with clumps of trees. A small car driving down a small road with headlights on is moving towards a silhouetted figure in the foreground.
Dim Shores Presents Volume 1 (cover art by Mr. Anthrope) - A shrouded semi-transparent figure with no face and clasped hands in shades of purple, blue, and gray is seen from the waist up, superimposed over twisted trees in a dark forest.
Dim Shores Presentds Volume 2 (cover art by Russell Smeaton) - A large humanoid creature crouches on top of a mountain. It has long bulky arms and legs, and a curling trunk or tentacle for a head. Purple clouds swirl behind it, with a swarm of small black birds on the upper right.
Seems pretty trivial given everything else going on right now, but a quick notice to say all Dim Shores e-books are now free until further notice. Just ask and I will send you a ZIP file with all four anthologies released to date, no DRM.

Brilliant talk this morning from Brontë about Robert Aickman! I'd never heard of the concept of the artifice story before, but it's everything I'm looking for in fiction and trying to achieve in my own writing (explain nothing! Preserve the mysterious!)

The cover for Gore Poetics, Stories by Samir Sirk Morató. The cover features glistening intestines with two black pearls at the center. The text is a dark pink and flows with the texture of the intestines.
COVER REVEAL AND PREORDER ANNOUNCEMENT!
Gore Poetics by @spicycloaca.bsky.social is coming April 14th. It's strange, transgressive, and visceral--just like its cover by @sloppjockey.bsky.social with typography by @alandistro.bsky.social!

I am fucking *delighted* that a magazine found something worth sharing in a nauseating, unsavory tale about a failing restaurant. More so that that magazine was Seize the Press. Even more so that it sits alongside the most wicked cover and some profoundly unsettling weird fiction.

Contemporary Gothic
Review 31 is an online literary review.
I spent some time with last year's Nightjar Press chapbooks and ended up writing about creepy birds and the contemporary gothic. Review 31 kindly took it on. Free to read here: review31.co.uk/essay/view/1...

I was inspired by everybody being thoughtful and looking back on the year, so I did the same thing with my infrequent personal newsletter.
Talked about the year as I lived it, and put together some lists of books, movies, shows, and short stories from pals that I wanted to share.

"The Monument" by R L. Summerling. Picture depicts an abstract shape against a blue sky with clouds
"It was a comfort, the professor said. Just for a while, no one could remember who was alive and who was dead."
Sneaking one last story into 2025! I've got a new piece up at The Archive today! The Monument is about art and memory and was inspired by "The Matter of Time" installation by Richard Serra I saw at the Guggenheim in Bilbao this year
