I prolly shouldβve mentioned that I do like that album a lot. But the sonic mid-ness of it means a rarely listen all the way through

I never thought of it, but that is a straight π―
Definitely peanut butter Capβn Crumch, tho the roof of my mouth always regrets it
It plays as if everything is in a middle range emotionally and sonically. Nothing overly high; nothing exceptionally low. Just middle. There may be creative reasons for this, but it struck me that it also makes it perfect for putting on in the background for work, sleep, etc
I think its interesting to think about how awareness of this affects creation. Iβm sure others have written more thoughtfully about it. It first struck me when I spent extended time with Kacey Musgravesβ Golden Hourβ¦
Great observation. The quintessential example of this for me is pulling up a streaming service to hear a particular song or album and my kids much less frequently going there for something specific
Is it just me or is #Bridgerton S2 an homage to #FamilyStone (movie, not band)? Eldest son feels overwhelming family responsibility; is going to marry the βwrongβ sister? Gets the wedding ring stuck on the βrightβ sisterβs hand?!?!
Iβm always interested in the evolutions of peopleβs favorite Dead years. For me it started with 77, then went 72 > 74 > 73 > 89 > 90 > 79. Probably 74 is the overall winner for me. Tho now I spend a lot of time with all of the 80s for a project.
One of my motivations in seeing EPiC. I knew him mostly from Garciaβs band, then looked up his discography and fell on the floor

Love the corner in corner method!

Helen Reddy, Capt & Tennile, Maria Muldaur, Mink Deville, Doc & Merle, Neil Diamond, Chris Hillman, Costello, Los Lobos, Orbison (love B&W Night), Shelby Lynne.
And that's the short list.
Went to see the EPiC doc in part to see drummer Ron Tutt. I only know him from Elvis and Garcia. Came home to look at his discography and lordy be! Had no idea he was on a whole feast of albums...
Quincy, Nesmith, Mancini, Streisand, Buckinham Nicks, Parsons, Joel, Emmylou, Andy Wms, Carpenters...
Curious if someone could mount a successful city council campaign on the platform of there are entirely too many sauces being drizzled by restaurants?
Ms. M with the deep cuts!
Happy birthday, Ned! 55's a great year to be!
Hadnβt thought about it this way before, but maybe national opinion columnist should be a term-limited job. You get X years (five?) to make your point and persuade and then go on, make way for new voices.
Never have been much of a committed-to-one-artist cover band enthusiast, but Bertha are a ton of fun to see, and I do dig hearing all the familiar songs with their amazing trio+ of vocalists

I love this Tight Connection attempt
And by βitβ we mean everything they touch
I have every kind of notification off on phone and laptop except the red app dot. Sound too. I donβt think my brain could function with constant interruption. Then again, Iβm π΄π»
We seem to talk a lot more now about generations than I as a Gen X remember growing up π΄π». But as a dad of 22,20,18, 16 yos, it occurred to me that these kids have essentially had 9/11, Iraq, Great Recession, Trump, COVID & even more fascist Trump in their lifetimes. Lordy fβinβ be.
