Fair warning, there much greater chances of an Ackbar mention in Star Pilots, so I won't feel offended if it takes the top spot :)

We know you've been waiting for more news on Book 2 of our #StarWars #ReignoftheEmpire series - #EdgeoftheAbyss
Some cool updates on the near-horizon. (but...not today). Stay tuned
Remember when a #Godzilla film had this awesome conceit of "a Star Trek-type crew of interesting science experts + precocious kid who study/love Godzilla..."
But the movie decided the "hero" should be: "angry dad who hates Godzilla"
The lack of awareness in that decision boggles the mind still.
What I can promise:
*Expertise from my 11+ years at a Big 5 publisher, working on over 80 books.
*Multiple expert guest speakers
*Hands-on assignments doing the same work real book editors do.
*Personalized attention, feedback & mentoring
*a cohort based around empathy, learning and enthusiasm
Yes, the course does cost $ (more info at link). Certainly less than grad school / pub programs / summer pub course, but its why I'm being transparent about what it is / is not. This is one avenue!
This course does not promise to get you a job (no course can, nor should promise that) But you will learn *how* to be an editor, and have an environment to practice, not just be lectured at. The classes are live (we get to hang out) (and recorded) and entirely remote.
This course is best suited for folks 1) just starting their editorial careers or about to and 2) folks looking to move into publishing/editorial.
It is grounded in the book development journey and the author-editor relationship.
Having now taught it once - I know it both works + is fun.
Cool news - I've been asked by the team at #ELVTR
to teach a second round of my EDITOR IN BOOK PUBLISHING course focused on fiction. A practical course built around what editors *actually do*

Stay strong. I consider it a badge of honor to not even know what the hell the interface looks like.

That's not to say we won't ever do it, eventually the density of the timeline might force us to do that, but I personally don't think its the best representation of those stories and I don't think it serves someone looking to learn about those three titles in the best way, which is always the goal.
Hockey is truly a beautiful thing. Missing teeth, bloody smile and all.
It's all gold.

No. we haven't consolidated them because they aren't a trilogy like those two other trilogies. They are three standalone novels that are connected, but we all conceived as individual one off projects.
Also the time that passes is FAR more significant, so consolidating them would be really imprecise

Haven't done this in a while but some news re: ETE--after a lot of back and forth over how and whether to keep the old site live, we've now been fully relocated to a new, MUCH cheaper hosting platform and the site has been given a spit-polish (meaning I fixed a fuckton of dead image links).
Look I know fighting isn't "couth" in Olympic hockey, but...the boys should be allowed to brawl on Sunday.
This summer brings #StarWars #Legacy, the story of how Rey/Leia trained post-ep 8 and how the Skywalker saber was reforged.
Did you know the original code-name for the book was ARCHLET? And that it's not a code-name, its an "anagram" of a code-name?
Why? Well, let me explain...
I could be watching cartoon clips for an hour straight, doesn't matter...
"FIGHT THE EMPIRE"
"THE MONSTER THAT WILL COME FOR US ALL...."
My #Youtube algorithm is broken in the BEST way. Almost every time I watch a video, regardless of the subject, the next automated video that plays defaults to one of these two:
Maarva's funeral speech (#Andor S1)
Mon Mothma's speech post-Ghorman (#Andor S2)

Pinching myself at the absolute privilege I have to be @rebeccaroanhorse.bsky.social editor on a book not just once, but a second time. #StarWars #ReignoftheEmpire #EdgeoftheAbyss
That's Krennic or Perrin talk lol. We're trying not to rest on laurels.
We do know...but we'll keep that a secret for the moment :)
Just had another awesome chat with the ever wonderful Fran Wilde about where we hope to take #StarWars #ReignoftheEmpire Book 3 - #FromtheAshes
If we accomplish even 1/3 of what we're planning, gosh are we going to have such a special cap to the series
Now we've got to earn it

And for the kind people asking for tour dates:
Every word in this *thing* weighs about a ton, figuratively speaking.
I have to write *a thing*. It is only 61 words long.
I do not want to write it. I am not a writer. It is terrifying, and I am wholly unqualified/undeserving, but it my responsibility and obligation.
61 words might as well be 61,000.
I'll tell you about it...um, some day.
It's true, all of it. Best part of getting to work on the stories, is how awesome they all are as people.
