Willow flowers backed with the sun setting behind some trees
Sunset sky with goat willow flowers & a hint of Saharan dust
For #RoseWednesday ๐นa couple of Summer Damask roses: the Painted Damask, Lรฉda (before 1837) & Pink Lรฉda. They are sports of each other but it is not clear which one came first. Such gorgeous, fragrant blooms. #Roses ๐ฑ
Not long now.... ๐ฑ
I see petrol & gas prices are rocketing & no doubt food, feed etc will follow. Best be prepared where I can. Thank goodness I have a well-stocked pantry & plenty of seeds ๐ฑ
I am going to fill some jerry cans tomorrow to tide me over for a while too

Sunset sky
It's trying to rain so I went & bought some flower seeds to dream of warmer days ๐๐๐ชฒ๐โ๏ธ๐ฑ
beauty is all around us
Sunset sky
It's the Sow Chatty sow along tonight & I have my celeriac seeds at the ready...

Chiffchaff singing its creaky door song in the garden. The first one I have heard this year. Under the trees pretty Narcissus bulbicodium 'White Petticoat' has opened; tiny creamy trumpets lying on the grass awaiting bees. A gloomy start today but we were promised sunshine. โ๏ธ
win-win
Sunset sky. Swirly pink clouds over grazing sheep. #SkySheep
Countess cherry plum. Always the first to flower ๐ฑ
Wet again. I have a feeling global events will shortly hike petrol prices so I have come to the cheapest garage around here & filled the tank (something I never do).

Hellebores in the sunshine. I even managed to do a few things in the garden (e.g. start laying a path with Victorian hand made bricks salvaged from a skip).

Pippin enjoying the fiery sunset sky
Old 1lb tobacco tins are ace (& I have never smoked)
they will ๐
I will pot them on like a normal tomato as they grow. They stay as small bushes so end up in medium sized pots. I am not good with sizes but I used pots that young roses came in last year
no. They germinate well if you give them heat like a chilli. The plants grow well & get quite large (3ft by 3ft) so you don't need many. Delicious though
I keep my vegetable seeds in old tins. This tin is for seeds to sow this month. It is large enough for most seed packets & has air holes for ventilation. Today I am sowing micro dwarf tomatoes to sit in pots on the windowsills & give some early fruits that taste of summer ๐ ๐ฑ
Much milder day but still very muddy. I stood ankle deep listening to the gentle trilling of a Redwing in one of the fruit trees. Such a lovely song ๐ถ
yes.... they do what they want & live in the trees. I love them dearly ๐ฆ
Timperley Early rhubarb reaching for the sun (aren't we all?). Another sign that spring warmth is not far off. ๐ฑ
Three peacocks on a gloomy grey day
Another grey day though my barometer suggests better weather on the way (the forecast says light rain). As the early spring days lengthen my first chilli, pepper & aubergine seeds have germinated & I shall be sowing onions, celery & celeriac this weekend.๐ฑ
