Been thinking about my problematic fave (the concept of an Earth Mother) as we enter winter.

i gotta tell ya if you say the word "zine" and hand me a perfect bound book my expectations have not been met
I go verse! Dewey-style.
Same! Honestly, I was just trying to remember whether you've done a weird hack of it yet, or if I was imagining it.
a drawing of a twi'lek woman from star wars. she's fat, green, and wears a big fur-trimmed coat. behind her: the template for a "smuggler" character in the Star Wars d6 game from the late Eighties.
Fanart for the 1987 first edition of West End Games' star wars rpg specifically.
my wife showed me the "dune content"! I love it; woke up thinking about it.
Thank you for speaking the truth!
I ran out of chips... I'm going to perish
Speaking as someone who doesn't really like gag-driven comedies or fiction about teens, and who lives thirty years past the film's period of immediate relevance: best bit is when Dan Hedaya enters the frame shouting GET OUTTA MY CHAIR
I saw Clueless (1995) for the first time last night; what a great reminder that sometimes you can and should just not have an opinion on a cultural object. There's a temptation to call it 'good' or 'bad', but, like. I'm so far from being the audience for that movie; what do I care, really?
The question underlying this is "does it open the door re: me writing my long-threatened Woman-Conan/Dejah Thoris fanfiction"
a pinup drawing of Conan the Barbarian, here depicted as a fat naked woman holding a dagger and surrounded by green skulls. A title reading "The Savage Sword of Conan" is above her, written in the Shavian alphabet.
what this drawing presupposes is: what if Conan was a woman
The 'Sigma Society' in this episode of Columbo having a logo that's just a big letter 'S' is so funny to me. I know it was 1976, but surely there's a letter more pertinent that we might have chosen in this case.
A YOUNG DAUGHTER OF THE PICTS
85% of the people I work with!!
Also I'm not seeing any real talk of expanding tree cover or other shade in the plan, in which case it really seems that the only planned "pedestrianising" is removing cars from the road instead of actually centring pedestrians and their needs
We don't have billboards in this city for a reason! They make life worse!
I can't believe the city's plan for an "Electronic Video Sign Zone". Imagine looking at Times Square and saying "I want that here, in my smaller city where it would be harder for people to escape it. I want to broadcast live events there, in my city famous for its big hockey riot."
Thank you!
The first time I've ever drawn myself wearing pants, maybe? 2025: a watershed year.
a self portrait of Imogen: a white
I need to stop calling these βannualβ self portraits, given I only draw one every couple of years
Really hot and sunny at this bus stop. shame the City of Vancouver has never discovered how to erect some kind of amenity which would allow one to sit in the shade while waiting for one's bus
This week: "The Knight" joins the lineup of fictional archetypes for which gay people online are horny, and of which I am forced to be a hater.
Talking to me about film is very "girl who's only seen Working Girl, The Skin I Live In, and Zardoz", you know?
The thing about movie-watching is that, ultimately, everyone is Guy Who's Only Seen Boss Baby β you just end up with more and different boss babies
Sometimes my head gets turned by the concept of owning a raincoat, but the fact is that I'm simply too warm to wear one. My cute sweaty body melted the wax out of a waxed cotton jacket once.
which coincided unhelpfully with the trend of people drifting from saying 'wlw' to describing things as 'sapphic', in the same vague bechdel-test-with-kissing kind of way
Thinking about people branding their work/sexuality as 'sapphic': I've done so only once, for a book that channelled Bliss Carman's weird overwrought 'translations' of Sappho, with the idea it would give the potential reader an idea of the poetic tone I was going for
This is very fun *and* it looks great
it also fucks up my brain such that I had to do a bunch of editing on the above text re: spelling
