Maybe we should be clearer. Jobs arenโ€™t at risk from AI. Theyโ€™re at risk from amoral shitbag short term spec capitalists using AI against a weakly unionised workforce and broken government.

To take this seriously a sec: when your political-economic system allows massive inequality to explode, it creates a class of people who have no material problems but do have the resources & power to make their trivial irritations the central business of politicsโ€”at immense material cost to others.

Hitting desalination plants is so bad. Not just evil but strategically incomprehensible. Without desalination 75% of the entire population of the Middle East will be refugees. Israel and Kuwait depend on desalination for 90% of their water and other Middle East states arenโ€™t far behind.

The feature, which launched in August, claims to help you โ€œsharpen your message through the lens of industry-relevant perspectives.โ€ When users select the โ€œexpert reviewโ€ button in the Grammarly sidebar, it analyzes their writing and surfaces AI-generated suggestions โ€œinspired byโ€ related experts. Those โ€œindustry-relevant perspectivesโ€ include the likes of Stephen King, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Carl Sagan, among many others.

The Verge found numerous other tech journalists named in the feature, as well, including former Verge editors Casey Newton and Joanna Stern, former Verge writer Monica Chin, Wiredโ€™s Lauren Goode, Bloombergโ€™s Mark Gurman and Jason Schreier, the New York Timesโ€™ Kashmir Hill, The Atlanticโ€™s Kaitlyn Tiffany, PC Gamerโ€™s Wes Fenlon, Gizmodoโ€™s Raymond Wong, Digital Foundry founder Richard Leadbetter, Tomโ€™s Guide editor-in-chief Mark Spoonauer, former Rock Paper Shotgun editor-in-chief Katharine Castle, and former IGN news director Kat Bailey. The descriptions for some experts contain inaccuracies, such as outdated job titles, which could have been accurately updated had Superhuman asked those people for permission to reference their work.

The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.

Fun fact. If a snail had departed the Russian border heading West through Ukraine 4 years ago when the Russian military invaded (again), that snail would now be somewhere in mid Poland. The Russian military however, is not. Russia, officially less effective & slower than a snail.

Anyone who wants Britain to join the war in Iran needs their head examined They don't know what they want to achieve, why they're doing it or what the consequences might be. They are lost in the void.

'Last year, Trump said his military intervention had โ€œobliteratedโ€ [Iran's] nuclear capacity. Two weeks ago... Steve Witkoff said [it was] โ€œprobably a week away from having industrial-grade bomb-making materialโ€. It is impossible for both these statements to be true.'

They can both be false though.

Kalshi employees "kind of understand that without the tweets and the streamers and all of the social-media stuff that the traders do for them, usually just for free, their marketing would be a lot harder," said Jack Campion, 20, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Kalshi affiliate.
In September, Kalshi briefly signed up a 15-year-old videogame streamer who goes by vertid online to promote its brand on X as an affiliate.
A week later, Kalshi ended the partnership.
"Yo brother, legal team confirmed that we can't work with minors rn," a Kalshi employee wrote to the user in messages reviewed by the Journal. "Kinda sad tbh."

I see Farage is off to Mar-a-Lago to talk down Britain and suck up to Trump.

There's nothing patriotic about cheering on a foreign leader whose illegal war is sending British familiesโ€™ energy bills through the roof.

Just shows how much contempt Reform has for their own supporters. This is a policy that helps the kids of the wealthy educated liberal elites they claim to despise. And would harm the types of constituency they do well in.
