One can only hope that at least that truly is the end of the Iranian regime!

Ich denke nicht, diesmal sollten und kânnen Sie die iranischen MilitÀranlagen grâßtenteils ausschalten (und ich hoffe, dass ich damit Recht behalte)

Light always prevails! A short lived moment of breathtaking beauty as a granite outcrop in Patagonia's Torres del Paine catches fire, in the endless struggle between light and darkness.

This. I mean, as long as the road is entirely empty and you can oversee what could happen with traffic I think it's not too bad to go this fast. Going this fast with traffic, swerving around traffic and driving up too close is something else entirely though...

You have a point. Im pretty sure they could survive just not with that Standard of living as they're having right now.
That being said, either way it is the choice of the greenlandic people...

A long beach can be seen, in the background green, towering mountains. The tip of the highest mountain is covered in snow and just about reaches into the clouds. A few small islands are in between the boat and the beach.

I mean, that actually did happen and it wasn't even long ago so of course many Greenlanders arent exaxtly super happy with Denmark. That being said, many of them want full Independence, not US occupation

Photograph from 1911 taken by Herbert Ponting whilst with Scott's Antarctic Expedition

The monochrome photo is taken from within a cave. The walls of the cave are made of ice. The cave entrance is in the mid distance with two figures standing looking out towards a distant ship. Between them and the ship there is first a 'beach' of ice before the sea itself. The ship could be up to 800 metres away

What makes the photo so special is that where the figures are at the cave entrance there is a band of very white snow and ice (contrasting with the comparatively dark inside of the cave) that creates a stark framework in which the men and the ship are captured. It is made even more dramatic by the fact that the cave entrance is at least 30 metres high and is in the shape of a distorted elipse with the tail sloping off to the right at the top of the elipse

The photo being in monochrome in a largely white environment makes the photographers skill all the more laudable

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

After several attempts over a period of 6 years, patience finally paid off. For an all too brief moment, Argentinian Patagonia's vast, breathtaking Perito Moreno glacier is dressed in the most beautiful light!

That's so cool!
Geographically it's definitely more part of North America than Europe and honestly, Greenland belongs to Greenlanders. And apparently most of them want Independence. I just hope they're smart enough to not fall for some kind of deal with Trump

I totally get your point. And the thing is, the US, ruzzia and China all have an interest in breaking apart European unity. The problem is, they're succeding. In every single European country there are big movements that are against the European Union and they're constantly gaining momentum

14.01.2026 18:04 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I wish that we would do that tbh.
And btw China would be the one other example were incredibly dependent on, economically.
I think often times the problems are rooted in different European countries having different opinions on every matter so in the end its hard and everything is a compromise

14.01.2026 18:00 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

No one in the West can afford to lose the US' support, especially not militarily. Thing like their satellite systems and the overall operational awareness and intelligence sector alone is worth so incredibly much. And were not even talking about singular weapon systems like the Patriot for example.

14.01.2026 17:54 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

That is exactly what is happening, sadly. Of course Europe is building up their own militaries but that takes time. I honestly wish it were different too but no matter what Trump does he will need to be "respected" by almost the entire world simply because of the how much power he holds...

14.01.2026 17:51 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

He's got a point though because Donald Trump is the President of the by far strongest military power on the planet. China might be catching up but ruzzia is not even close. And ruzzia only understands strength.

That being said we Europeans still have to do our best (and look at Trump with caution)
