Please get regular checkups and follow ups and medications if possible.
Never one for doctors, diagnostics and testing this week showed a non-life threatening condition, had she gotten checkups, wouldβve been found and preventative treatment administered. No guarantees a stroke wouldβve been avoided, but certainly greatly reduced.
I know many donβt get the luxury to say goodbye. While I canβt say Iβve ever had the chance to say goodbye to someone lucid in bed like in the movies, idk if itβs easier or harder to say goodbye to someone in a hospital or funeral home, having done both over the years.
The idea of going to the hospital, to say goodbye, to see her like that, is terrifying. But I owe her that much. She deserves that much. She may not be there anymore (thereβs no way of knowing) but if thereβs a chance she is, I at least want to, despite that fear, that sadness.
She taught me things, passed on knowledge, loved and supported me. While for a fair few years we havenβt seen one another much, it still hurts to see this happen to her. If she is conscious, I want to let her know she mattered, made a difference in my life, & made pieces in the puzzle of me.
Best friends mom (my second mom as I often joke) had a stoke this week and is on life support and doctors say she isnβt going to pull through. While I want to remember her as she was vs being hooked up to machines, if there is a chance she can still hear and understand I want to say goodbye to her.

Post reads: People with ADHD have whatβs called Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD). Itβs an extreme emotional response to perceived criticism or rejection. Your brain canβt regulate the emotional pain, so a small comment feels like a devastating attack. A minor correction feels like total failure. Someoneβs tone feels like hatred. Itβs not oversensitivity. Itβs not being dramatic. Your brain literally canβt modulate the intensity of that emotional response. Itβs neurological, not a character flaw.

A short text or a sigh of frustration isn't just a moment of stress to them, it's a signal of impending exile. Your consistency and reassurance aren't coddling; they are the bridge that helps them cross the gap of their own neurological insecurity.

On a personal level, this is one of my hardest things to deal with. Thankfully its not constant, and I've learned outward reactive regulation, but inside its still this, and sometimes the sad slips out >> 1/2
