they want to take airport traffic and congest downtown with it instead! Of course I asked them if they would do a traffic story to analyze those impacts and they said no. The whole hearing was like that. A company that really wanted to help Nashville wouldnβt be acting this way. I hope they /

But letβs zoom out. What they propose is a way to get to the airport from downtown, to decongest car trips at the airport. But you still have to get to the tunnel entrance downtown to use the tunnel. So, at best /

I am just leaving the Council committee meeting with the Boring Company. They said they wanted to be transparent, and build trust, and I was hoping for that, but they dodged almost every question any of us asked. They wonβt disclose what data or reports they relied on for their environmental /
tree crews are pros who are working around the clock, this kind of communication is causing its own kind of alarm. I am continuing to press NES for better info and progress and wonβt let up. (NES has promised to update this graphic at their website, so I hope we get a more useful version soon)

NES published this graphic after I sent out a district newsletter this morning but this graphic is causing more trouble than help, and I am very upset by this way of communicating. For one thing, the date reflects their estimate of restoration for the *last* house in a zip code β NOT the /
Quick update: Glad to be able to say that βNashville 911β has shut down their film shoot that was happening in East. Really outrageous for them to be doing that in front of homes without power in this storm. Thanks to the Mayorβs office for helping me with that request.

But as we comply with court rulings, we are not going to do that: we are going to proceed in a dignified way and the council will continue to serve the people of Nashville. Nashville is strong and our people are strong and thatβs not going to change. We will love and work together.
We, Nashville, just received an adverse decision in the Council Reduction Act case from the Court of Appeals. There will be further proceedings, and as you know, I strongly disagree with this decision. But let me say this: part of the goal of this Act is to pit Nashville against itself /
Congratulations to the East End Neighborhood Association, recognized with the MHZCβs annual Leadership Award for the community-driven process to update the design guidelines on South 10th/Shelby! It was a pleasure to work on, with special thanks to @brettawithers.bsky.social and @jeguth.bsky.social
Got to love a new arboretum in Nashville! Congrats to @freddieoconnell.bsky.social and @jkupin4d19.bsky.social for cutting the ribbon on the Nashville Downtown Arboretum. Rain moved the ceremony inside (despite my druthers) but drink up, trees, and grow strong!
Congratulations to Dukeβs on their 10th anniversary! Great vibe right now, and lots of great bands later tonight. And congrats to the Rosebank neighborhood association on a really fun block party. A gorgeous day for a lot of stuff going on in East!
Fridays by the River :)

Huge thanks to NES and the crew for coming out late to turn the new lights on at the Shelby ball fields! With four games going on and just in time for that sunset!
Play Ball! Congrats to all the young athletes and East Nashville Athletics on another amazing opening day!
We love hosting Nashvilleβs annual Arbor Day celebration in East Park. Special in particular this year are the memorial trees planted for Bill Freeman and Rev. James Lawson, both dearly missed. Thanks to all who came out: this is the 150th year of Arbor Day in Tennessee!
Powerful afternoon at the SEIU Town Hall, listening to Metro employees speak about the work they doβstaffing schools, 911 dispatch, providing clean water, fixing roads, collecting trash, and on and onβthey serve our city and need to be supported!
Trump and maga are pretending to be invincible. They arenβt. Not even close. They will try to dismantle free government in America, but the Constitution is stronger than them. We are stronger than them. Donβt be demoralized. It will be a long road, but they are not going to win. We are.
