Read @amandaearl.bsky.social's review of @aliceburdick.bsky.social's Ox Lost, Snow Deep (pub. @anvilpress.bsky.social) in Issue 31!
I loved [it]. It is full of subversions of fixed expressions and ideas, knock-your-socks-off observations and quirky aphorisms..

2) This was the 1st of my 6 books to have ever been listed for any poetry awards. Ox made it to the longlist for the Raymond Souster Award too. Iβm a poetry lifer, at it since the early 90s, writing without awards in mind & will continue. But itβs a nice encouragement for this aging poet. πβοΈ

1) Iβm so grateful that Ox Lost, Snow Deep was so deeply read & felt by the jury of the Maxine Tynes Nova Scotia Poetry Award. This citation almost made me cry. Congratulations to Cory Lavender, who won the award, & to Annick MacAskill, also on the shortlist.

Occasionally thereβs still a PWYC jar here because of course there are costs to hosting in any space, but the general expectation seems to be that poetry readings are free. Aside from those associated with festivals
