I'd agree if Gender Studies academics did as much critical analysis of gender as they claim to and didn't spend half their papers waxing lyrical about how enlightened cultures like India are for third-gendering trans women instead of considering us women
People like this are not concerned about gay Arabs; the thought there might even be gay Arabs probably does not cross their mind.

It's literally just transphobic gay men being angry the effeminate boys they want to fuck are becoming trans women.
They think the hormones make those boys less fuckable, and have decided the correct response is to lobby for outlawing hormones.
Every trans woman I know has had "why not be an effeminate man?" shoved in our faces for ages and yet thus piece suggests that even once suggesting an effeminate boy might be trans is some sort of crime against humanity.
This is transphobia.
Even the ones not indulging the harassment seem to perceive "a trans woman on BlueSky said something hostile and negative about Jamelle Bouie" as an Important Topic they need to Opine Publicly on

It’s not lost on me that the last time a large trans account had a spat with Jamelle Bouie over his employment at the NYT, trans women who were not connected were harassed off the site and others who were unconnected dealt with harassment for months
I fear the same thing will occur/is occurring

I wish people would come to understand transphobia as systemic, structural, and pervasive so we could stop treating transphobia as explicitly limited to people saying "I hate trans people" and accept the way our society conditions us all to dismiss, diminish, and dehumanize trans people.
The whole Jamelle Bouie thing is really telling, because I think the initial outrage against him for not quitting his job at the NYT was kind of silly but also understandable, but now you have countless white people trying to prove their anti-racist bonafides by harassing trans women

I always say: I'm almost 30, and I've been extremely (some would say obsessively) politically active since I was 16.
If conservatives had any arguments that worked on me, I would have heard them by now.
