The US Clocktower issue of DFTR simply calls it "King Tubby the Dub Master", which is what's caused the confusion. It's the same LP as the one that came out on Total Sounds

I've just dug out "Surrounded by Dreads" - still don't rate it. Some unimpressive rhythms and quite tame mixing. "Grass Roots" was far better.
I do rate "Bag O Wire" although the rhythms are Sidney Crooks copies - far better mixing than some LPs of the era
I presume "Grass Roots Dub" is the album better known as "King Tubby Meets the Upsetter At the Grass Roots of Dub", and "Best of the Wailers" is the Beverlys reissue and nothing to do with Island?
I can't think of another one
Drummer in the Heptones' touring band, and reportedly also behind the kit on Culture's dubious "Africa Stand Alone"

This image of a Police Inspector and a lad with an open razor was taken in 1971
i found his productions very hit and miss, but at his best he put out killers like this - RIP

I still think the tune (and lyrics) owes a little bit to this 1966 B-side

The attempt to translate the lyrics on the Japanese double CD of "CB200" and "Bionic Dread" is hilarious.
When Dillinger says "Cho Mother Liza" they translate is as "Germ Analyzer"
You've posted a remake. This is the Channel One original with Skin Flesh and Bones

It's likely they were artists local to Falmouth who didn't move south to Kingston
Sir Lee's "Rock to The Music" and its version on Carib Gems are two of the tracks on my #28. They're Norman Grant productions
Their recordings are mostly collected here although the sleeve is not informative- www.discogs.com/master/60776...
A lot of Norman Grant/ Twinkle Brothers based tunes on the chart that week
The one I had completely forgotten after 48 years was my #25 - Prince Far I and Flabba Holt versioning the Heptones

A few of them from Daddy Kool, but a surprisingly large number made their way to Hot Licks and The Other Record Shop in Edinburgh
Top singles on 1977 numbers 19-40
Numbers 19-40. I got the title of the Dr Alimantado the wrong way round (It's "Still Alive/Life All Over") and I think"Ballistic Affair" was 1976, but here you are
List of favourite singles of 1977
This had been missing for 25 years and nearly found its way into the local dump, but I saved it.

This one produced by Pablo is very underrated IMHO

An illegitimate son, so not in the line of succession and thus not truly "Royal"
He doesn't appear to have recorded in Jamaica from 1967-72, but this cover of a David Gates hit by one Glen "Fluff" Miller was released in Guyana in 1971. The voice isn't dissimilar....

Dan Williams was Grace Jones' maternal grandfather
So...unless Matador forgot Roy Shirley's name probably not *the* Uniques then.
I haven't read the book mind you, and it's good to know that he kept proper (if not completely noted) session data
Alton Ellis - "I'm Just A Guy" (1967)
You might note that this isn't actually the Uniques - it might be the Overtakers/Overdrives

Old Lloyd Daley riddim from 1969 - "Secretly" by the Uniques, also versioned by U-Roy as "Scandal" in 1970.
