Has the Modern Industrial Strategy delivered on Industrial Decarbonisation?
Imogen Rattle and Peter Taylor examine the positive changes, though questions remain on delivery timelines, funding, and whether it will be sufficient to decarbonise the sector.

Looking forward to this annual TGRG tradition.
Were you hoping for something specific?
Also, aircraft noise. Looking at you Leeds-Bradford Airport
In my book I don't care how many miles of rail a transit system has. What I want to know is how good the local bus system is? The humble bus is the real workhorse of transit. Going places rail will never go and unlocking access for so many people. Let's get the basics right.
My good friend and excellent academic is on Bluesky! Please give her a follow.
Four things to say about the Β£23bn Thames Water needs for infrastructure repair:
1. As I understand it, this covers only extreme, emergency repairs, for infrastructure thatβs about to fail or has already done so.
2. Itβs almost certainly an underestimate.

This is an exciting initiative. Prof Middlemiss and Dr Owen are very very good academics.

Since I am under 60, a single bus fare for the only route of any use to me costs Β£5.90 for 12 miles in Aberdeenshire; frequency/reliability are woeful. In Edinburgh I can get around at reasonable cost. It needs fixing.
When we think about animal conservation and plans to introduce/reintroduce animals in the UK we donβt talk enough about how to mitigate the impact of traffic. This sad story is repeated across our pervasive road network and we need a proper strategy to address the harm of roads on nature

Important work for a more ethical and just world
These vehicles are a risk to everyone, especially children.
They are too large, lethally designed and have a huge environmental impact.
Regulations in UK and EU have to urgently be updated to stop more of these being driven on our roads.
π’ Reminder that the LSSI Next Generation Impact Scheme call closes on 2nd October. The amount of interest shown in this from Leeds colleagues has been fantastic.
