Someone shoved feces through my door this morning, unsurprisingly it was a page of absolute shite with not a single mention of who is standing locally or why I should vote for them. Just a claim I'm being robbed of democracy by not voting for a councillor who will be gone within 2 years
Fuck Reform

Sorry mate but you're really reaching to defend the indefensible because it's your side doing wrong, I've said my piece and it's clear we're not going to agree so I'll just leave it there.

And I work in recruitment with the public sector. If we were donating to organisations we then won contracts from we would quite rightly be investigated, but that doesn't apparently apply for politicians of most of the major parties.

Unless of course you meant John Armitage and I wouldn't call 500 million a small investment.
Either way a decent reputable government of any stripe shouldn't be taking donations from companies that directly conflict with or overlap with their portfolio.

Peter Hern does executive placement and heavy private healthcare recruitment, so it's a stretch to call him an NHS recruiter, but either way it's a conflict of interest to donate when you do the executive recruitment and win contracts off the back of that, like i said it's a very bad look.

I'm not talking about scandals, I'm talking for an example, about people like Wes Streeting taking money from private healthcare companies, (or their leaders/proxies) which should be a clear conflict of interest, whether it runs his office or not.
It's not things that engender trust.

Thus far labour haven't done an awful lot to improve my opinion of the political class no, there's still the same lobbyists and tufton Street groups pushing their agenda and some very questionable donations being accepted by various labour MPs.
Id be very happy to be proven wrong in time mind you.

Then I think we'll have to agree to disagree, too many times in recent years have companies and governments done illegal things for absolutely zero actual blowback or prosecution, you only need to look at the COVID VIP lane for evidence of that on both sides, yet no one is punished.

Genuine question, do you actually trust Palantir or say the police or our government - and potentially a Reform Government in a few years time to absolutely stick to those rules and not misuse, access, sell on or generally abuse the data in any way?
Because I really don't.

Oh I can see why he did it, but you can't say your aim is to kill a party off for being too incompetent to govern and needing replacing and then taking on some of its most useless, inept or corrupt members without expecting to take a bit of flack.
I'd expect the same for defections to the Greens

Flooding the party with failed former Tory ministers also hasn't been the victory he thought it would be as they're deeply unpopular with everyone.

Same, but I know a few people who work within that sector who cringe about it a lot. Brand marketing is a huge thing now and it seems labour are behind the curve on Reform in getting their messages solid and out everywhere.
Corbyns team had very similar issues imo, so it's been a long-term problem

It's because they have so very few attack points to work with and not a single one of the other mainstream parties is saying "vote for us because we'll do X good!" They're all desperately slinging mud and screaming "vote for us because they're worse!"
But no one's falling for it anymore.

It'd be a good time to develop a Comms team that bypasses legacy media that will never support a thing they do.
The vast majority of People who might vote labour aren't reading those rags and are entrenched Tories/Reform.
Time to actually use social media to reach people properly and engage.

The problem isn't the work, the problem is the poor communication, if you're doing good things and most lay voters don't know about them because the narrative is only on U-turns and policy failures, you'll lose the argument even if you're right.
They badly need a better Comms team.

It's a good step, but a drop in the ocean in reversing Tory anti democratic policies like mandatory ID at polling stations (which it seems in their minds doesn't make any difference anyway since everyone still cheats in a by-election.)
They've got a few years left to (I hope) unpick a lot of harm.

The same people who will tell you until they're blue in the face that islamic fundamentalism is the most dangerous thing on earth won't bat an eyelash over their own bastardisation of Christianity to spread hate and control people.
The irony is thicker than they are. And that's saying something.

And instead Shabana is doubling down on her rhetoric, doing photoshoots dressed up like some kind of evil empire general and lying through her teeth about other politicians for holding views she herself used to espouse before her midlife conversation to being a social conservative.
Quite sad.

Always funny when a politician's own words come back to haunt them when they try to lie about other people.
Even moreso when a previously decent person like Shabana decides to 'mature' in a social conservative / awful human being and then slag off people for holding views she used to live by.

Asylum seekers who break law to have taxpayer support removed
The home secretary will say in a speech the move is required to restore
So Labour will remove the right of Asylum seekers not to be destitute if they work.
Sounds like some red meat for Reform voters again.
Thing is if you let them work, they won't need the support.
And once this goes through they'll find more and more excuses not to offer support.
